Call for Projects 2011-2012: Musical Research Residency Program
Submission Deadline: September 30, 2010
Details and submission procedure: http://www.ircam.fr/875.html?L=1
The musical research residency is neither a pure scientific program,
nor a commission for an artistic production; but halfway in between.
We encourage artists, composers and musicians who wish to carry
experimental research related to their artistic endeavors along with
researchers and computer musicians at Ircam. Submission is online and
open to all participants regardless of age or nationality. Each
project will be evaluated by a panel of experts including researchers,
artists and computer musicians. Upon nomination, each laureate will be
granted a residency at Ircam during a specific period (three to six
months) and in association with a team/project at Ircam. In addition,
laureates receive an equivalent of 1200 Euros per month to cover
expenses in France.

Appel à projet 2011-2012: Résidence de Recherche Musicale
Date limite de candidature: 30 Septembre 2010
Plus d'information et procédure de candidature:
http://www.ircam.fr/875.html

Hi list,
just to share this abstraction I'm using in my recent patches.
Mediagrid is a graphical file chooser.
It is based on videogrid external from Sergi Lario and Lluis Gomez i Bigorda.
Apart to be an abstraction and not an external, the main difference is
that mediagrid is cross-platform and you can manage audio file also
and no just video or images.
Here more infos and download:

Dear all,
I just published some documentation regarding my latest work The invisible
suns project.
"Can the trading market patterns be represented in a perceptually weighted
experience?
Invisible Suns is an autonomous system that every day analyzes the
historical stock prices of a variable selection of major corporations,
compresses in few minutes over 8 years of economic transactions and
eventually produces a generative and self-organizing audiovisual datascape."
Further information at
http://marcodonnarumma.com/works/the-invisible-suns-project/
An audio visual real time recording of an earlier output of the system can
be view on-line at http://vimeo.com/15050311.
It is recommended to view the video in full HD, otherwise relevant details
of the work would be lost.
Developed in Pure Data, bash scripts, Linux OS.
Feedbacks are food for thoughts.
Thanks,
Best wishes,

Its done and available for download! With this release, we focused on
fixing lots of bugs with the GUI and Graph-On-Parent. There are still
some odd things of course, but we have rewritten the GUI from scratch
for 0.43 so we wanted to make sure we got a stable release out before
the really major changes that are upcoming. There are of course many
bug fixes and additions since 0.41.4, here are some highlights:
* pd~ object lets you run a patch on multiple CPUs
* Windows builds should be much more stable
* fixed lots of Graph-On-Parent GUI bugs
* lots of work on supporting user-installed libraries
* complete 64-bit support for GNU/Linux
* working 64-bit builds for Mac OS X and Windows
* full support for Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard (32-bit)
* a brand new Help Browser that shows all installed libraries

Its that time again, time for a little Pd/Max patching. We are
following up on previous Pd/Android work with an 0.1 release. So
bring your Android phones and we'll have Pd apps ready for
installing. We've tested on the G1, Droid, Nexus One, and Droid
Incredible, but we are looking for a wide range of devices. Pd should
run on any Android phone running Android 1.6 or newer.
Additionally, the libpd that was created for Pd/Android has also been
ported to OpenFrameworks and Java. We are now looking for some
intrepid Processing hackers to get Pd embedded into Processing.
We'll be at NYC Resistor this Sunday from 3-8pm.

We spend enough time alone staring at our computers; we are proposing
to work together. So often issues that arise when working can be
solved with a quick two minute discussion that would take hours to
solve alone. We have Dorkbot to see people's work, we have Share where
anyone can play, we have workshops and universities to learn from.
This is a meeting where we all can come to work.
This is an informal gathering of patching and patchers (Pd, Max/MSP/
Jitter, and even vvvv, Eyesweb, Labview, etc.). Beginners and
Experienced welcome. Open to everyone, students, the public, etc. Work
on personal projects, professional projects, school projects, ask for
help, help others, or just patch quietly to yourself, in a room full of
other people patching patches and helping other people patch.
Every third Sunday of the month, so this Sunday, August 15th!
3-8pm (a little later than before)
Free!
