Hello, next tuesday, 19th January, will be the third meeting of Pure Data users in Berlin. For more information, look up http://puredata.info/community/organization/pd-berlin/pd-berlin-users-group. We also encourage you to take an active part, and put up suggestions for topics you want to talk about / topics you want to be talked about. Doors are open from 20h-20h15. After that they'll be probably closed, and you will have to call someone at NK to get in. To get a telephone number to call or confirm assistance you can write to info_at_minitronics.net. We would apreciate if you would send us a small mail to info_at_minitronics.net with your name, Pd experience and interests, so that we know how many people might be coming. __PURE DATA WORKSHOP__ Thursday 15th and Friday 16th July 2010, 3pm-7pm Electron Club CCA – Centre for Contemporary Arts, 350 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow G2 3JD Electron Club presents an introduction to Pure Data, a real-time graphical programming environment for audio, video, and graphical processing. Pure Data is the third major branch of the family of patcher programming languages known as Max originally developed by Miller Puckette and company at IRCAM. Pd is free multi-platform software. This two day workshop will bring participants through the basic idioms of dataflow, real-time audio and visual processing and networking. It is lead by Edinburgh based new media artists Marco Donnarumma and Ioann Maria. What: Participants will learn how to communicate with Pd and surf through the audio and visual processing objects libraries. Together we'll build basic processing audio and video structures and discover tricks and tips to create our own performance tool. No previous programming experience is needed. His audiovisual real-time performances, interactive participative installations and electroacoustic compositions have been exhibited and performed in 19 countries across South America, Europe and Asia. Hello, Date: Sunday, 27 June, 2010 - 14:00 We'll focus on video and 3D : Jack from the RYBN collective (http://rybn.org) will come over to introduce us to GEM, one of the graphical libraries in PD, focussing on video and 3D generative synthesis. The goal is to create a thorough understanding of these techniques over a few sessions. Sessions from 14h till 18h, at OKNO. As usual, these are free events, come with your laptop, headphones and motivations/projects. VisualTracker 1.0 ALPHA 1 release

VisualTracker is collaborative open source project which aims to create graphical and program environment within pd for sequencing various types of events on timeline (aka multitrack audio/midi sequencer). It provides (or hopefully will provide soon ;-) ) GUI (each event is represented by canvas movable across tracks/timeline), built-in sequencer, multiple audio and data outputs, time stretch, save&load function and more features known from software such as Ableton Live!, Vegas or ACID. It also provides system (called “VisualTracker connector”) for forcing any time based pd abstraction to cooperate with VisualTracker and use its features and GUI (see http://code.google.com/p/visualtracker/wiki/ManualModuleConcept ). Its current focus is on expanding read/write computer literacy, and creating new ways to circumvent barriers in order to make computers more accessible. New Blankets is a voluntary coalition of artists, musicians, scientists, engineers, librarians, parents and community activists throughout the country dedicated to the networked support of mutually enriching learning communities. Please join us Friday, June 25, from 6:30pm-8:30pm at the Gottesman Library, Teachers College, Columbia University where we will be describing and brainstorming about New Blankets' progress in the past two years, and welcoming Hans-Christoph Steiner as our First Artist-in- Transit Fellow. You can also look forward to strumming the Suitcase Supercomputer and viewing other exhibits exploring artworks and technologies. Hans-Christoph brings with him years of experience of sharing, teaching and and collaborating with an eye towards building community. He has been involved in designing interactive software with a focus on human perceptual capabilities, building networks with free software, and composing music with computers, He has been instrumental in the development and distribution of Pure Data, a graphical programming language. He sees Pd as an intuitive way 'in' to read/write computer literacy and will be furthering New Blankets mission by teaching free and fun Pure Data workshops at the South Queens Boys and Girls Club.

Gallery NANO invites all with interested in sharing, exchanging and working together. Focus is to create a loop activity where people would exchange parts of their creative visions. Moderators will support the whole process with creating and sharing PD patches for audio and visual collaborative real time performing. Program: day time will be spend in short presentations of 5 minutes where each participant can explain ideas, development or share visions about specific project. Second part of the day will be spend in swapping parts of the code so people can try out other peoples patches, change them, reshape and transform them. This process will help us in creating a group work. During evenings a place for collaborative performances in video and sound will be staged with all participants who show interest. Collaboration is a focus, there will be no individual works but all individual works will be fused in one. Gallery NANO opened its doors for unusual non-exhibition event that focuses on active participation. Interaction goes on a level where gallery visitors not only interact with artwork, but are creating artwork together with artist. This artwork is in constant change and work is in constant progress. PD Exchange Summit (PES) is based on ideas of Free Culture, where collaboration and cooperation is overcoming individual representational artistic work into group works.
