pd 0.46-0 released

Hi all, Pd version 0.46-0 is available on http://msp.ucsd.edu/software.htm or via git from sourceforge: git clone git://git.code.sf.net/p/pure-data/pure-data cd pure-data git checkout New stuff: oscformat and oscparse objects - so Pd vanilla can input and output OSC via UDP. (For TCP, USB, or other wrappings you still also need the slip encoder and/or decoder from mrpeach. Jack support compiled in for Mac computers. Audio and MIDI devices saved by name so that when they get switched around Pd has a better chance of restoring settings correctly. New [text tosymbol] and [text fromsymbol] to allow string manipulation. Netsend/netreceive can send messages bidirectinally if using TCP protocol. other miscellaneous improvements and lots of bug fixes. cheers Miller

Arduino for Pd'ers tutorial

Hi list, I've written a tutorial on the communication between Pd and Arduino, aimed at Pd users who want to program Arduino without using the Firmata firmware. You can get it here http://drymonitis.me/code/ (look for the specific link). The .zip file contains the tutorial .pdf, all Arduino sketches, Pd patches, as well as Fritzing files of the circuits. The tutorial is split in ten projects which are the following: 1 - digital output 2 - digital input 3 - analog input 4 - analog output 5 - analog and digital output 6 - more than one analog inputs 7 - servo motors 8 - analog and digital input 9 - multiplexing 10a - output shift registers 10b - input shift registers Feedback is welcome : )

Main new features: multiple instancing for libpd audio/MIDI device settings stored by name, not number netsend/netreceive can be used bidirectionally [list tosymbol] and [list fromsymbol] for string handling Jack enabled in compiled Mac version lots of small bug fixes cheers Miller

Hello list, On 5th August I'll be holding a workshop at Vivid Projects in Birmingham, UK where I'll be introducing using Pure Data for visuals and multimedia. More information below: Logistics * The workshop will take place at Vivid Projects, which is located at 16 Minerva Works, 158 Fazeley Street, Birmingham, B5 5RS. Pure Data is free and open source software that can be downloaded for Max OSX, Windows and Linux from http://puredata.info.
