py/pyext 0.1.3 - python script objects

Hi all, as a fruit from the latest sound installation here's a new version of the python externals. It has some new features, like - introduced shortcut "pyx" for pyext. - arguments to the pyext class are now exposed as attributes "args" - inlet and outlet count can be given as creation arguments for pyext, python _inlet and _outlet members are ignored then - parameters to Python functions are treated as integers when they can be. and quite a number of bugs fixed, like - class variables are now set atomic if parameter list has only 1 element - crash if script or class names are non-strings - long multi-line doc strings are now printed correctly - message "doc+" for class/instance __doc__ now working - improved/debugged handling of reference counts - _pyext._send will now send anythings if feasible - fixed some bad threading behavior In general it should be much more stable. Python threading is still not supported - that will follow in a later release. Download as usual from: http://grrrr.org/ext and have fun with it best greetings, Thomas

Physical Computing Workshop with Eva Sjuve at BEK, Bergen, Norway, July 19-23, 2004 Pure Data Workshop with Malte Steiner at BEK, Bergen, Norway, July 24-25 * * * * * Physical Computing Workshop with Eva Sjuve The workshop is aimed at artists and musicians who are interested in physical interaction with the computer, a way to interact, by not using the keyboard and the mouse. In the workshop we use a microcontroller, BasicX-24, programming it using Basic language, and use it as a tool for interaction with various kinds of sensors. The workshop is basic, no programming or knowledge in electronics is necessary, but preferred. To attend the workshop is free, the participant has to pay for their own travel and lodging to Bergen, Norway. The participants will be able to keep their project from the workshop. Eva Sjuve has been working with computer-based projects since the 80's, and is building and performing with physical interfaces. She has been exhibiting in Europe, US, South America, Asia and Australia, since mid 80's. Eva Sjuve studied microcontrollers at The Physics Department at Lund University, Sweden, and later at The Interactive Telecommunications Program at New York University. She holds a MA in Art Theory and Master's studies in Drama/Theatre/Film, Lund University, Sweden and a MPS at ITP, New York University. "browser" - alpha state ...

hi, list inspired by yves degoyon's playlist and due to the fact that this fine object is not yet ported to windows, i tried to make a similar thing with objects already existing within windows PD. it's pretty much alpha state and needs a bunch of libraries (IEMLIB1, IEMLIB2, MOTEX, HAMMER (or CYCLONE), ZEXY) plus a small dos-utility to make it work right. all the necessary files are included in this .zip file: http://www.klingt.org/~oliver/pd/browser.zip at the moment it only changes directories and outputs the name of a selected file to a print-object. it's all one-click, and $0-featured, which means, several independent "browser" patches should be possible. if it works right it can easily be made into a GOP. during patching i was extremely confused about PD's working directory issues. i noticed, when i started Pd with a batch-file, and then loaded "browser.pd" with the open-message, PD's working directory was the one of the batch-file. however, when i double-clicked "browser.pd" (which would then be opened with the same batch file as %1), PD's working directory was the one where "browser.pd" resided. any hints on that (and maybe some tips about proper dos-scripting) would be helpful. another wish for a near future: to be allowed to use and type backslashes within windows PD !!!
