Hi all, as already announced, dyn~ is now available for cvs checkout. It needs minor patches (for exports of a few functions) to the PD source code, which i already made available in the devel_0_36 branch of the pd cvs module. see also: http://www.parasitaere-kapazitaeten.net/ext/dyn As described before, dyn~ allows to create/destroy, connect/disconnect normal pd objects and abstractions hidden inside the dyn~ external on the fly. It's very experimental at this stage and more like a proof-of-concept. In a further step similar functionality shall be accessible for scripting (like the pyext external) to allow efficient and easy management of complicated patches and massive polyphony. Also with the current dyn~ version it's only a small steop to a Max-like poly~ object (although inlets and outlets cannot be shared between signals and objects) There are several sources of problems with the current dyn~ version: - dyn~ needs some PD functions that are not normally accessible to externals. These are o canvas_addtolist, canvas_takeofflist - to enable DSP processing of a non-root canvas o canvas_isconnected, canvas_connect, canvas_disconnect - to manage object connection without GUI interaction o pd_newest - introduced by me to expose the "newest" pointer (the latest created object) I consider these functions quite non-critical in terms of version changes. However, there are further critical issues: - a sub-canvas is added to the list of root-canvases manually - managing connections seems to be a GUI-affair to some extent Managing objects in PD should definitely become more independent from the GUI. dyn~ may serve as an example, but due to my very limited insight into PD there are definitely some hidden incompatibilities with PDs inner workings at this point. may the god of digital audio be with you! have fun and make some good music! wedit - a waveeditor for Pd

hi, a new, and hopefully useful tool, very beta version though, but it is the first release... wedit features some basic sound-operations like cutting, normalizing, fading, muting, ... and is based on thomas' VASP-external (http://www.parasitaere-kapazitaeten.net/vasp). it can also be used as an editor for arrays (use like "wedit arrayname"), where you can edit the arrays of your patches. it is not an external, but simply an abstraction. feel free to test and send feedback. get it at: http://www.parasitaere-kapazitaeten.net/Pd/wedit.htm marius. ps. i know, you all have your own home-grown editor, so let me know, what's missing in this one. there is already a nice todo list...

hi yves, some minor observations: I read: > other objects are stable. hi, 0.7.6 added pdp_cmap : color mapper ( thanx to liz for the suggestion ) added actions in color tracker ( steady mode, cursor on/off, frame on/off ), generally improved fixed colors in pdp_spiral, pdp_dice there has been a lot of releases i know, but this one is a kind of a milestone // port of effectTV is finished -- other objects are stable. cheers, sevy/yves

k_jack is a jack reimplementation, and mammut is a very special sound transformating sound editor. Download from http://www.notam02.no/arkiv/src/ New in mammut v0.14->v0.15: --------------------------- -Removed the synth transform. It was not supposed to be there and had no function. -Fixed the wobble transform. Segfaulted with mono-files. (Bug found by Dave Phillips) k_jack V0.0.0.5 ALPHA - EXPERIMENTAL ------------------------------------- ABOUT k_jack currently consists of k_jackd~, libk_jack and libaipc. k_jackd~ is a jack server external for pure-data. libk_jack is (supposed to be) a (somewhat) libjack compatible library. Jack applications that want to contact k_jackd~ instead of jackd must (somehow) be linked with libk_jack and libaipc instead of libjack. k_jackd~ does not speak with libjack, and jackd does not speak with libk_jack. libaipc is a library for audio interprocess communication, based on code from the vstserver. A preview version is included with this version of k_jack. (API is not settled.) By using libaipc for interprocess communication, and letting PD take care of various low/mid/high-level audio-stuff, only a few hundred lines of code is currently used for this implementation of a simple jack system. k_jackd~ and libk_jack are not based on the jack sourcecode found at jackit.sf.net, except for protos in the header files. COMPILE 1. Go into the aipc/src folder and write make to compile up libaipc.a 2. Go into the library folder and write make to compile up libk_jack.a 3. Write make to compile up k_jack~.pd_linux. 4. Relink you jack application(s) somehow. USAGE 1. Start pd with the "-lib k_jackd~" option. 2. Start a jack application linked with libk_jack. 3. Make an object in pd called "k_jackd~ <clientname>". Correct number of inlets and outlets will be made automaticly. That should be it. Later, when things get more stable, point 3 can do point 2 automaticly. WHY use k_jackd~ ? 1. Simple. Only the clientname is used, not the portnames. 2. Easy and powerful interface to control the audioflow. 3. Good performance. Shouldn't be necessary to run as root. TESTED CLIENTS simple_client, freqtweak, ceres. BUGS Crashes pretty often. Does not clean up. Huge risk of not freeing shared memory in the current implementation: Client must exit before server, and client must not crash. And server must not crash.
