Apologies for x-posting, Despite original intentions of not having any more major releases before the next GUI-rewrite version is out, I am about to eat my own words and announce pd-l2ork 20151018. About Pd-L2Ork Pd-L2Ork is a fork of the ubiquitous Pure-Data focusing on improved user interface, expanded collection of externals, and an advanced SVG-enabled graphical front-end. Originally it was introduced as the core infrastructure for the Linux Laptop Orchestra (L2Ork http://l2ork.icat.vt.edu), and has since expanded to include K-12 learning module with a unique learning environment offering adaptable granularity that has been utilized in over dozen maker workshops and initiatives, including the Raspberry Pi Orchestra program for middle school children introduced in the summer 2014. The Department of Performing Arts in the College of Arts and Sciences at American University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Audio Technology at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 1, 2016. Applicants should hold a terminal degree in an audio-related field or anticipate completion by August 2016. Candidates should be effective teachers and must be strongly committed to excellence in scholarly research. We welcome applications from candidates engaged in high-quality scholarship in the broad field of audio technology and are particularly interested in candidates with any of the following areas of specialization: acoustics, cognition/perception, electronics, game audio, spatialized audio, and audio software/hardware design. Teaching specialization in any of the above areas as well as live sound or broadcast audio is preferred, though all instructional areas will be considered. In addition to scholarship and teaching, responsibilities will include participation in department, school and university activities. Salary and benefits are competitive. Georgia Tech's 2016 Margaret Guthman Musical Instrument Competition is an annual event aimed at identifying the world's next generation of musical instruments and unveiling the best new ideas in musicality, design, and engineering. Some of our previous finalists include the OP-1, Roli Seaboard, Guitarbot, among the many other groundbreaking musical instruments which have since become commercially and artistically successful.
