Hi all,
I am going to be in London this spring for 3 months in research exchange in Goldsmiths, I have been already here for 2 weeks time, mostly putting my things together.
I would be happy to join in Pd events or in anything related, seminars, gigs, talks, exhibitions, regular pub meetings you are organizing.
please let me know if anything happens, directly to my email :)
best,
Koray

Its time to announce the next big Pd-extended release, 0.43.4! This release
has the most new features of any release before, so many annoyances are gone,
many new tools help you patch, and. There will be more updates to cover some
of the new features here, in the form of news items on puredata.info, blog
posts, screencasts and more.
Download here for all platforms (Debian, Mac OS X, Mint, Raspbian, Ubuntu,
Windows, and of course the source code):
http://puredata.info/downloads/pd-extended/releases/0.43.4
For Debian/Ubuntu/Mint/etc., you can add an apt source by following the
instructions at the top of the page here:

ChangeLog
-------
Here you can get a good overview in what has changed, so you know where to
find out more.

* complete Tcl/Tk 8.5 support and integration
* drastically improved Pd window logging/print performance (1000 lines/sec
and you can still patch)
* Ctrl-click/Cmd-click error messages in Pd window to find the object with
the error
* five log levels and dynamic filtering of Pd window log ('fatal, error,
normal, debug, all')
* library loading printed to Pd window at level 'debug' so the Pd window
is blank when Pd-extended starts
* hierarchical display of open subpatches/abstractions in Window menu:
http://puredata.info/dev/NextRelease/window_hierarchy.png
* generate complete Pd window log using 'File->Save As..' when on the
Pd window
* 'File->New' creates the new patch in the folder of the current patch

are properly freed
* GUI objects no longer send pointless draw updates, reducing GUI load
* (Windows) external libraries can now include DLLs in a library folder
* [loadbang] has a convenience inlet
* sys_open() / sys_close() and sys_fopen() / sys_fclose() functions in
m_pd.h for full UTF-8 support in externals that use files
== updates to libraries and objects ==
* added all lowercase aliases to cyclone for Max/MSP >= 4.6 compatibility
* fix type-punned pointer issues in most externals so everything is built
using auto-vectorization optimization on all platforms
* [sys_gui] now outputs a bang when the command completes

More Details
------------
* the Mac OS X PowerPC builds are a bit out of date because the
PowerPC build machine died at the end of December. We're trying
to get it back up so we can have up-to-date Mac OS X PowerPC builds!
* the Raspbian build is barely tested, please try it and report back
so we can improve things on Raspbian.
Hello,
I am happy to announce version 0.9 of PuREST JSON, code name: Sailing to
Colchis.
PuREST JSON is a library for working with RESTful HTTP webservices, and
JSON data.
Authentication and authorization for webservices are available with
basic HTTP auth, cookie authentication, and OAuth. As an example for
OAuth authenticated webservices, a Twitter client is included.
Changes in the new version:
- [json-encode] writes and reads JSON data to and from files
- [oauth] does not use deprecated functions from liboauth 1.0
- Bugfixes and refactoring

*_Topic: Live code Expression._*
The DSP [expr~] object in Pure Data is often used to modulate audio signal
in sound synthesis. This presentation, however, will propose an
alternative approach to this conventional usage. It will demonstrate how
both musical structure and sound can be rapidly constructed using simple
DSP arithmetics (without messaging system), therefore suits the practice
of Live coding particularly well.
Musical examples can be found here: http://gosub10.org/GOSUB10-004.html
Paper/presentation submitted to the Pure Data convention can be found here:

bio:
Chun Lee is a Taiwanese artist currently living and working in London.
Originally trained in classical music, his fascination with technology
has led him to focus his practice and research on the use of Free
Software in digital art, in which he subsequently gained a doctoral
degree. Other than the continual experimentation in digital medium,
his current interest also includes traditional printmaking, where he
explores the fascinating world of procedural geometrical drawing.

Thanks everyone for testing and reporting bugs! Hammer hard on this, try any
patch you can think of, this is the very last chance to get bugs fixed in this
release. I've fixed a number of bugs found in rc1:
* opening Max/MSP .mxb and .help files works again
* crash fixed when dynamically creating subpatches
* (Mac OS X) Japanese/Unicode names for Audio and MIDI devices now show up
rather than just being blank
* (Windows) "Reset to Defaults" now works, using the included pd-settings.reg
* (GNU/Linux) double-clicking .pd files opens them in Pd, even with files that
include unicode characters, spaces, semi-colons, etc.
* more strings made translatable
And some reported will have to wait til the next release:
* (Mac OS X) key commands don't work with Caps Lock on
* (GNU/Linux) smoothing out Jack (for now, check "use callbacks")
