vida e intereses cotidianos.

An implementation of a new type of pd atom will be presented. The string/blob
type permits the manipulation of pure data as bytes. Objects to convert
strings to and from floats, symbols and other data will also be discussed.

Was sat somewhere about applying Pinsker's Inequality on some game
theoretical reflection of information theory... while i by chance M-
x'ed my way to 5x5.el by Dave Pearson. After wasting some time
playing it, i thought that trying to implement it (the game) in Pd
was a fun way to not complete that proof just now. And here it is,
the implementation of the game; attached and at http://dibidut.dk/
pd/. - How many moves do you need to complete?

Making practical designs with Pure Data in a 5, 2 or 3-day workshop
PD
Pure Data (or PD) is a visual programming language for the creation
of interactive computer music, video and multimedia works. It has
become a pioneering application in the contemporary art field.
This workshop is an opportunity for video makers, musicians, artists
and designers to learn how to process and organize image, sounds and
video and how to use the networking possibilities of Pure Data.
Participants work on their own Pure Data sound or video project.
WORKSHOP APPROACH
During an introductory 2-day workshop (25 | 26 June) participants
will learn the basics of using PD and of manipulating video, images
and sound. In the 2nd workshop (27 | 28 | 29 June) you will get more
in-depth knowledge and work for 3 days on your own PureData sound or
video project. It is a 5-day workshop, but depending on your
experience and preferences it is possible only to follow the
introductory workshop or only the in-depth workshop.
TRAINER
Koray Tahiroglu from Turkey / Finland, is a very experienced 'PD'er',
connected to the Media Lab of the University of Art & Design in
Helsinki. Koray gives PureData workshops all over Europe. Technical
people will assist him and help participants through the design process.

ps: i feel somehow addressed by some mails concerning netpd. since i
possibly won't spend much time in front of computer these days (i'd
rather hang around in the city of vienna), i'll answer these when i am

Hi all,
I will be presenting an audio installation done in Pd at NIME. It is
called the Human Sequencer. It will be at Eyebeam.org during NIME 2007
in New York !
See http://itp.nyu.edu/nime/2007/installations.php
This audio game is an interactive installation for collective musical
creation. The challenge is to create together as a group interesting
rhythmic patterns in a giant sequencer controlled with the visitors'
feet on the floor. The music is generated with voices singing the
scat, a vocal jazz improvisation technique using nonsense words. This
work proposes to the anonymous passers to create transitory
interactions by collaboration and laughter.

OPEN technologies workshop, Zaragoza, Spain, June 26th - July 1st
http://www.0j0.org/pmwiki/index.php/Events/GohanDevelopmentJun07
******* FREE WORKSHOP ANNOUNCEMENT *******
Arduino, Pd, and Processing are becoming more and more intertwined.
Sensors controlling software synthesis, robots controlled by video
tracking, custom musical instruments, and more. We are a collection
of developers working with these free software tools. Join us to work
on projects of these combinations, or help us create new
possibilities by bringing these tools ever more intertwined.
This event is a combination of a hacklab and a barcamp. We are
following the ad hoc, participant-driven nature of the barcamp in
combination with the collaborative work studio environment of a
hacklab. If you have not been to a hacklab, barcamp, and/or
unconference before, here are a couple of good references to get an
idea of the way it is done:
BarCamp on wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BarCamp
There will be workshops and talks, and plenty of time to work. We
will all be working together to create projects which will then be
exhibited in Zaragoza. Bring one or more of the following: ideas,
projects, a desire to learn, a desire to teach. Come everyday to pick
up skills and finish your project. Come whenever you can to learn new
bits and pieces, and help build compelling things to exhibit!
Dates & Location:
June 26th (Tuesday) - July 1st (Sunday)
Centro de Historia
Pl. San Agustín 2
50002 Zaragoza - Spain

Team - Guest developers:

pdp_qt/pdp_yqt doesn't work with all codecs (yet?). Try MJPEG, JPEG,
PNG. Those are among the best codecs to use for live video
processing anyway since they take the least CPU to decode.
