programming language. Pure Data enables musicians, visual artists, performers,
researchers, and developers to create software graphically.

Hi all,
Pd version 0.46-0 is available on http://msp.ucsd.edu/software.htm
or via git from sourceforge:
git clone git://git.code.sf.net/p/pure-data/pure-data
cd pure-data
git checkout
New stuff:
oscformat and oscparse objects - so Pd vanilla can input and output OSC
via UDP. (For TCP, USB, or other wrappings you still also need the slip
encoder and/or decoder from mrpeach.
Jack support compiled in for Mac computers.
Audio and MIDI devices saved by name so that when they get switched around
Pd has a better chance of restoring settings correctly.
New [text tosymbol] and [text fromsymbol] to allow string manipulation.
Netsend/netreceive can send messages bidirectinally if using TCP protocol.
other miscellaneous improvements and lots of bug fixes.
cheers
Miller

Hi list,
I've written a tutorial on the communication between Pd and Arduino, aimed
at Pd users who want to program Arduino without using the Firmata firmware.
You can get it here http://drymonitis.me/code/ (look for the specific link).
The .zip file contains the tutorial .pdf, all Arduino sketches, Pd patches,
as well as Fritzing files of the circuits.
The tutorial is split in ten projects which are the following:
1 - digital output
2 - digital input
3 - analog input
4 - analog output
5 - analog and digital output
6 - more than one analog inputs
7 - servo motors
8 - analog and digital input
9 - multiplexing
10a - output shift registers
10b - input shift registers
Feedback is welcome : )
Hi all,
Pd version 0.46-0test1 is available on http://msp.ucsd.edu/software.htm
or via git from sourceforge:
git clone git://git.code.sf.net/p/pure-data/pure-data
cd pure-data
git checkout
The 64-bit Mac compile isn't up yet, but the "usual" Mac, PC, and source
packages are there.
Main new features:
multiple instancing for libpd
audio/MIDI device settings stored by name, not number
netsend/netreceive can be used bidirectionally
[list tosymbol] and [list fromsymbol] for string handling
Jack enabled in compiled Mac version
lots of small bug fixes
cheers

Hello list,
On 5th August I'll be holding a workshop at Vivid Projects in
Birmingham, UK where I'll be introducing using Pure Data for visuals
and multimedia. More information below:
Logistics
* The workshop will take place at Vivid Projects, which is located at
16 Minerva Works, 158 Fazeley Street, Birmingham, B5 5RS. Ring the
buzzer to be let in.
* The workshop takes place on Tuesday 5th August and will begin at
13:00 and finish at 17:00.
* The workshop is limited to 15 places
* Tickets cost £10 and can be purchased from
http://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/pure-data-workshop-tickets-12365061231
What you will need
* Pure Data Extended. Pure Data is free and open source software that
can be downloaded for Max OSX, Windows and Linux from
http://puredata.info. The software comes in two versions, Pure Data
Vanilla and Pure Data Extended. For this workshop participants should
download Pure Data Extended before the workshop begins in order to
have more time developing skills and software.
* A laptop. Although Pd can run on old hardware, newer hardware
results in a smoother usage experience.
* Ideas! After the basics have been covered the workshop will focus on
developing any ideas you have.
Hope to see some new faces there!
Antonio

Hello all, sorry for cross-posting,
Interference is happy to announce that the preliminary program is online
and can be found on https://interference.io/program *
The program includes an exciting and eclectic mixture of talks,
workshops, installations, performances, and discussions on topics like
hacktivism, human-machine interfacing, cybernetics, liquid surveillance,
artistic interventions, cryptocoins, anti-capitalism, and many others.
The event comes as a response to the lack of a common ground for
confrontation and discussion over themes like hacking, technology, art,
and politics that could break out of the existing containers and roles
for such concepts and practices.
You are cordially invited to come interfere with us. Please register at
https://interference.io/register *
More information and future updates can be found on
https://interference.io *
(sorry for possible x-post)
Dears,
hope to find you well.
Here to inform you about this humble and exciting Estonia tour Derek Holzer
and myself are starting today and the ways you can join us.
The tour includes an artistic residency in a remote spot, a one-day bus
tour to play music in abandoned villages, and a double workshop on
Soundboxes and Biophysical music performance.
Soundboxes homepage: http://macumbista.net/?page_id=1897
Xth Sense homepage: http://res.marcodonnarumma.com/projects/xth-sense
\\\ Artistic Residency at MAAJAAM
Valgamaa, EE.
- The residency will serve to develop new writing towards the realisation
of a new musical performance for body technologies to be premiered at
Spectrum, NYC, this October.
MAAJAAM is a project space in an old farm in Estonian countryside where art
meets technology. Substituting the urban environment with a hilly rural
landscape allows us to observe technology in it’s pure form and analyze
it’s connections to us and the nature.
\\\ Olematute kylade projekt / Project for Non-existent Villages
Võru, EE.
- One-day tour playing electro-acoustic and biophysical music across
several abandoned villages in the Estonian countryside.
Expect some modular and visceral sounds resonating crackling walls:
http://macumbista.net/?page_id=482http://marcodonnarumma.com/works/ominous/
Audience, curators and artists travel together on a bus throughout a whole
day of sound, silence, ghost houses and unexpected acoustics. Those
villages are considered as null pointers; those points existing on maps and
in cultural memory but which have lost the objects being refered to.
Participating artists excavate embedded meanings in these culturally
changing environments and search for intersections of traditional and
contemporary cultural practices.
Book a spot for on the bus for 1 Euro by emailing to buss(a)taavisuisalu.com.
\\\ Soundboxes + Xth Sense workshops
Tallinn, EE.
Intensive two days crash course on building and making noise with the
Soundboxes handmade electronics, and the Xth Sense biophysical wearable
instrument.
http://www.kultuurikatel.ee/makerlab/event/soundboxes-workshop-with-derek-h…http://www.kultuurikatel.ee/makerlab/event/xth-sense-make-your-own-biophysi…
hope to see some of you there!
best wishes,

dear Pd junkies,
recently, yahoo (and later aol) has implemented a strict
spam-preventing scheme, that basically prevents mailinglists like
yours truly from doing their work [1].
this scheme basically disallows re-distribution of emails from people
with yahoo-accounts.
you (esp. if you are using yahoo yourself, but gmail users might be
affected as well) might have noticed, that some mailing-list posts
have gone missing (esp. when originating from other yahoo users).
a possibly missing email can be found at [2].
this is *not* a hostile attempt from our side (your faithful iem-team)
to censor the mailinglist(s).
we are currently investigating ways to mitigate the problem [3], but
haven't found an acceptable /and/ working technical solution yet.
if possible, we would like to suggest all posters using
yahoo-addresses, to consider switching to another (free)mail-provider
- - if only for the purpose of posting emails to innocent mailinglists.
if we do not find a solution fast, we might be forced to *temporarily*
disable posting from yahoo-addresses (but will try avoid this step as
long as possible, and if forced to use it keep it as short as possible).
yours,
fgasmdr
