PD.ZILLA --- PURE DATA STOMPS THE UK!
Workshops and Demos on Free + Open Source Software for artists by
Aymeric Mansoux and Derek Holzer.
While many tools exist for sound, multimedia and VJ purposes, few of
them are designed with an open architecture which allows artists to
configure the tools they use themselves. Fewer still are free to use,
share and rebuild.
This workshop introduces the software combination of Pure Data, GEM and
PDP/PiDiP, running on the Linux operating system, as a platform for
audio, video and multimedia artists to explore.

---Oblique Strategy # 155:
"The most important thing is the thing most easily forgotten"
This version of [hid] fixes the crasher bug when you try to open a
non-existant device.
I am currently working on making a suite of objects for mapping
controller data. I am making a number of objects like [mouse],
[joystick], etc. which all output range (0 to 1 for axes). Then the
mapping objects all take data of this range and output 0 to 1 so that
the data can be easily mapped and scaled to parameters. Included are
log, square root, and cube root; and exponent, square, and cube; as
well as a basic smoothing object.
The overarching idea for these objects is to make clearly defined,
high-level objects for beginners and for rapid prototyping when using
external controllers in Pd patches. At least point I am looking for
ideas, comments, etc. about other possible mapping functions

In this version, standard joysticks and mice are supported almost
exactly the same in GNU/Linux and MacOS X. Tablets are supported in
GNU/Linux, but Wacom wrote a whack driver for MacOS X, so tablets are
not yet supported in MacOS X.

Hi all,
I've released test 10 of pd 0.38 to the usual:
http://crca.ucsd.edu/~msp/software.html
this is on a new "stable_0_38" branch of CVS. If nothing breaks for a
couple of days I'll call it "0.38" and get back to trying to improve
stuff...
cheers
Miller
Finally, we have HID support for Pd running on MacOS X. The GNU/Linux
support should be pretty solid, the MacOS X support is very alpha, with
a number of bugs, including only being able to access one device at a
time.

hi all ...
i created a devel_0_38 branch that is based on miller's 0.38-test7 ...
i would strongly suggest to deprecate devel_0_37 and work on devel_0_38.
most of the features of devel_0_37 are still available and i hope i
haven't missed or broke anything ...
have a lot of fun with it ...
cheers ... tim
