We got a new release of Cyclone (0.3 beta 2) - the library that clones Max/MSP objects! Not much news here, but the fact that this version will be the first version from cyclone 0.3 to be included in the next Purr Data release soon. I know I said this about the release of "cyclone 0.3 beta 1", but this time this is for real ;)
Most important changes from beta1 are: operators from the cyclone sub library (like >~, <~, etc) now accept the "cyclone/" prefix, to be compatible to Purr Data, which will not requite a library to load these objects as it has the [hexloader] external built-in.
I hope vanilla could have [hexloader] built in, but this is too unlikely, so the plan is not only to keep using a library named cyclone to carry these operators, but also to include all objects from cyclone into this single binary pack, in the same way as cyclone was once originally distributed.
A couple of other highlights is that we also made major fixes for old [sprintf] and took care of a bug we introduced to [funnel].
This should be up in deken in a day or so, but you can download it here if you like: https://github.com/porres/pd-cyclone/releases
And stay tuned for the next Purr Data release
cheers
as you might have noticed, all emails that you send to the pd-announce mailinglist will automatically get forwarded to pd-list as well. this is nothing new, it has been in action for more than 11 years [1] and has since been advertised on the pd-announce info page [2].
the consequence of this behaviour is that if you send announcements to both pd-announce and pd-list, your announcement will be sent twice to the pd-list. i think this is a mild annoyance and i would welcome ideas on who to prevent people from accidentally doing this. (it seems to be common enough for people to post to both lists but never wonder why they receive duplicate announcements).

If they were to post to both lists at the same time, mailman should be clever enough to prevent sending duplicated messages to who subscribers that are in both lists? Or at least if mailman is not that clever, many mail clients would be able to detect the duplicate and show a single message. But if you send two distinct messages, this cannot be filtered out.

Hi Alex,
I'm having troubles with the new [coll] on MsWindows.
It seems that using it with no-threading crashes Pd.
Opening the help patch crashes but creating a [cyclone/coll a] don't. But if you create a [cyclone/coll a @threaded 0] it crashes.
I also try compiling the sources but is the same.
can you fix it?

ok, that wasn't really tested, and we did change/improve a couple of minor bugs in [coll], so maybe that introduced it.
we'll check on it, thanks. If you want, you can go ahead and create an issue at https://github.com/porres/pd-cyclone/issues
just use the default threaded behaviour for now ;) (does it work well, by the way?)

I know, that is really bad!! I say this calls for an urgent beta-3 release ASAP, and in order to make it into the next purr data release around the corner
but I can say I had tested it in MacOS, and there was no issue, so hopefully this is just a windows thingy...
Windows users might wanna stick to the last beta-1 version for now, maybe...
btw, this is already up in deken

you could, however, manually delete that unthreaded coll from the help file, just so it doesn't crash Pd
You don't want users to do that, and is not so easy btw, as we have to rename the cyclone folder to open coll-help, so that it not crash (because it can't load [coll]).
But surely this is the faster workaround for 0.3 beta 2. You can update the coll-help so that it does not create unthreaded [coll]s. You can “comment” how to use the unthreaded [coll] and inform that for now is not supported on MsWindows.

Ok,
Note that on a clean win10 machine you *can* open the help-patch but you can't use [coll], either threaded or not. This new version uses “pthreadGC-3.dll” & “libgcc_s_dw2-1.dll”, this last one is not in the PKG so no crashes because it don't load. If “libgcc_s_dw2-1.dll” is placed you can use the unthreaded [coll].
