Hi, Another question in a very general vein. I asked this on the Csound list a while back (when i was using csound) with good results. I'm trying to produce an acidy type sound (eg 303) and having trouble as my current saw-tooth-through-a-vcf just sounds pretty wimpy. Any ideas on how to fatten it up a bit? I'm not looking for a perfect reproduction of the 303 sound, just a nice acid sound. Hints? Tips? Is there some place where people post interesting Pd patches they've created for others to download at try out? Should there be? Yves' Grid and GoP problems

All, Has anyone had any problems using Yves' Grid object with GoP? I find that it places itself way out of the GoP canvas, and when I grab the GoP'd object in Edit mode it actually resizes the GoP window instead of moving the object. Anyone else experienced this? Enclosed shapes with "polygon" in Gem

Hey all, Before Chris's Vertex Array stuff is done, does anyone have any tricks for creating enclosed shapes using polygon? I'd like to create a cube that I can move the corner point without creating holes between the polygons. Obviously this just means that some of the polys have common vertecies, but before I get to it has anyone made an abstraction/patch that takes care of managing the shared vertecies? It would be nice to be able to do more than cubes obviously... Is the vertex array stuff going to be in .88 or .89? Thanks Ben

os x gem fullscreen

hi there, i'm new to the pd and gem thing. so my first problem/question is, if it is possible to get the gem windows fullscreen on a second display? i tried some messages... but most of them didn't work. like "fullscreen 1" ,i also tried to move it with a "x offset -1024" on the other screen... thanx, ralf

hi, is it possible to convert the liveinput (pix_video) to some format with alpha channel? i tried [pix_video] [alpha] [pix_rgba] [pix_alpha] ... doesnot seem to work. marius.

More Gem help for Blockhead-Me please?

Hello pd-listers~ I was hoping someone could tell me if pix_data can read from a openGl chain (e.g. from the rasterization frame) or if it only works with objects like pix_video? Im writing a patch that will eventually read from a pix_video object and map that onto a cube that fills the screen, and read pixeldata from that, but as I dont have my camera now, I want to test my patch by moving a cube around in 3-space and testing the fields of pixels the patch is looking at in the window. I cant get any data from pix_data with a white cube sitting right in the middle of the window. I tried x:400 y:300 (screen dimentions are 800x600) and x:0.5 y:0.5, both failed. I have the chain hooked up as follows: [gemhead] [translateXYZ] [pix_data] [cube] and I tried: [gemhead] [translateXYZ] | \ [cube] [pix_data] both failed... Also, B. Bogart said that I can change the bounding box of gem by using the [view< message. Whats the syntax for that message? Thanks for the help B and everyone! -wadeislost

i had a dream ...

... this morning: in that dream there was my good old 700 mhz win desktop pc with a linux installed and a fine running pd with gridflow and gem running like hell on it... ... but, ups, wait.. linux.?. after so many days and nights spending in front of this mysthical pinguin, with the feeling of never understood less about computers than in that moment ? try again to discover the unknown depths of your comp ? spending weeks for figuring out why your hardware dont work ? be horrorfied by a monster called unix ? hmmm. YES i think its a good winter to wake up the pinguin again and try to learn something usefull .... ok heres my question to all the experts and freaks: please help , which linux you would prefer ? the goal is to run pd/gridflow (oh how wonderfull it could be) etc. and to learn about linux ? debian, mandrake, suse, red hat and i heard about a special multimedie linux, but forgot its name. tell me ... , where can i find good instructions for a weak win user, who wants to experience all this compiling stuff etc ? , is there a tutorial or something which can bring me to my goal, step by step ? (ok, surly not available, the install linux/pd tutorial for dummies) in one sentence, i am looking for a guru who leads me through the dark path of personal operating systems.. thanx for reading

I was wondering if any of you could recommend sources for sensor fabrication. I'm interested in building my own sensors for use in performances w/ computer interface. I'd love advice about books to read, websites, or even where to start (i.e. do I need to be an electrician first). Thanks, -i
