Hi, Another question in a very general vein. I asked this on the Csound list a while back (when i was using csound) with good results. I'm trying to produce an acidy type sound (eg 303) and having trouble as my current saw-tooth-through-a-vcf just sounds pretty wimpy. Any ideas on how to fatten it up a bit? I'm not looking for a perfect reproduction of the 303 sound, just a nice acid sound. Hints? Tips? Is there some place where people post interesting Pd patches they've created for others to download at try out? Should there be? creb installation problems

auto login + auto run pd on linux

hi, i have made an installation using pd and am migrating it to a planetccrma box from a windows machine - i need the patch to open automaticaly when the system boots up - in windows i just put a shortcut to my .bat file in the startup folder which worked fine. how do i do this in Linux? also i have stupidly locked myself out my root account by: chsh -s /sbin/nologin i thought this would bypass the login procedure - whoops! how can i get my root account back? this is my real problem at the moment thanks, rob www.robcanning.utvinternet.com

Yves' Grid and GoP problems

All, Has anyone had any problems using Yves' Grid object with GoP? I find that it places itself way out of the GoP canvas, and when I grab the GoP'd object in Edit mode it actually resizes the GoP window instead of moving the object. Anyone else experienced this? $0 variables in expr objects

hi all, is it possible to use a variable such as $0-bla in an expr object? using it this way, expr doesn't recorgnize this as a variable ... thnx... pyext doesn't eat floats..?!

Hi, I just got me all the Python stuff installed and while all this seems to be a wonderful extension to pd I have encountered a very basic problem, which is that pd crashes with "unknown software exception" (0xc000001d) whenever I try to send it a float. Bangs, messages, and lists are no problem though... I could prepend each float with a symbol to get things working, but I'd prefer to get this solved the right way. I'm using pd 0.37.0, pyext 0.1.2, Python 2.3, Windows2000 Thanks much, Sukandar

hi ben, try the method that frank barknecht uses in his angriff/seq stuff. it writes the values of guis to a textfile and can therefore be reloaded dead quick. pdp_pidip_osx package install problems

Enclosed shapes with "polygon" in Gem

Hey all, Before Chris's Vertex Array stuff is done, does anyone have any tricks for creating enclosed shapes using polygon? I'd like to create a cube that I can move the corner point without creating holes between the polygons. Obviously this just means that some of the polys have common vertecies, but before I get to it has anyone made an abstraction/patch that takes care of managing the shared vertecies? It would be nice to be able to do more than cubes obviously... Is the vertex array stuff going to be in .88 or .89? Thanks Ben

in which context is GEM slow ?

hello I would like to use GEM for programming experimental user interfaces. The problem I have is that sometimes GEM works very well, whereas sometimes it's very slow. For example, when I draw only 4 white mouse-movable squares over a black background, in a 300x300 window, the performances are good (in full screen too). But if I replace the background by a small PNG image (about 12 ko), GEM slows the program a lot (there are cuts in the audio stream). This happens under Windows XP with a recent computer and a usual graphic card. Is it normal ? In which cases does GEM become slow like this ? Should I rather use GEM under Linux ? Or, maybe GEM is rather adapted to Open GL than image or video matrix processing ? Thanks for your help --
