It is certainly possible, since the pix_movie object knows all of the information. The actual frame position should be known by your patch however, since you need to tell pix_movie what frame to display. Netsend dataformat

Hi I am working on a project with a 3d cave, and I am considering hooking PD on the sound system (8 speakers) through netsend/netreceive. In order to do that my programmer (my hero) has to translate the xyz positions and other info into netsend data. However he would like to know the dataformat of the Netsend TCP data. I have no idea about that, but I wonder if he should be able to figure it out by looking at the x_net.c code. In case he can't figure it out, will anybody here please enlighten me - or give me info I can pass on to the programmer. TIA Soeren Bovbjerg

hi. i wanted to read a recorded soundfile from disk by specifying start and end point to read from (in samples or mseconds) but did not find out how to do this --i wanted to attach this to the loop~ external to move in the sample of the loop... has anyone ideas how to solve this? maybe reading the array in another array and set the points there? i found a related topic in the list- archive http://iem.mhsg.ac.at/mailinglists/pd-list/1999-12//0033.html - is this tabwrite-like-external available now? thanks mt.

Pd 0.31 test version with ALSA fix

Hi all, THere's a test release, pd-031TEST3.tar.gz, for linux only, on the web site at http://www.crca.ucsd.edu/~msp/Software/ The main new thing is that ALSA is compiled in and seems to work OK with both stereo and with one multichannel sound card (the Midiman.) I hope this time that Pd with ALSA compiled in will also work on machines without ALSA installed on them. If any of you want to check the ALSA support on your own machines I'd be eager to hear how it goes. Unfortunately, I don't think this will work with RME Hammerfall boards yet; for those you'll still have to use Winfried's native driver... cheers Miller

bendin and touchin confused

Hi there, I experienced a strange problem trying to use the pitch-bend midi data coming from my synthesizer (Kawai K11): The bendin-objekt receives the aftertouch data and touchin receives something like pitch bend data but only '0' or '127'. If I move the wheel I allways get '0', only at it's very end I suddenly get '127'... This happens with WinNT-pd 0.28 to 0.31 (haven't tried any other versions jet). Using another synth does not help (I have checked midi data with a small software that diplays midi bytes: pitch bend is present if I move the wheel...). Any suggestions how / where to get the pitch bend data from? thanks, Olaf

Hi, I get the same effect also, using a Turtle Beach Fiji card with Andrew Veliath's OSS-like driver on one machine, and a crappy Vibra16 with OSS on another...weird. I tried something: putting the -frags or -fragsize flag. My clicks go away ! My problem is solved, but would anyone on the list please tell me why it is solved and how these two flags work ?
