[PD-announce] All-in-one 'websocket server + cross-browser multiplayer/multitouch demo' patch for Pd-extended

"websocket-server in a patch.pd" single pd patch file contains a reusable and fully documented websocket server, meant as an easy way to experiment with Pd<->web-browsers communications through websockets, without the need of other software or any external to compile A demo is included in the same patch : 'Flames', a simple cross-browser, multi-touch and multi-player graphical interface which makes Pd play creepy sounds :) and its javascript code for websockets is also documented. Just try it : open it with Pd-extended 0.43.4 on Windows, Mac or Linux, fire any recent web-browsers (on same machine or other computer, smartphone or tablet on same local network) with the URL provided in the main window, and you're good to go ! moog~ in pure pd?

Forgive me, I'm no low level dsp guru. I'm curious. How would one make the ggee [moog~] external in pure pd? [vcf~] sounds close, but of course, it's a band pass so it's not a real replacement. I messed with rjlib [e_beequad= + [u_lowpassq] which sounds pretty good, but there no signal rate frequency control, which I'd need for those nice filter sweeps. searchpath inside patch

Is there a possibility to put a statement (relative pathname) inside a patch where to look for additional abstractions, for example to search for abstractions inside a subfolder "abs" which is in the same directory than the patch itself. Thanks for help, Achim

slide~ (msp) in pd

Since I'm on a mailing spree: how can I make a pd version of slide~ (MSP), which, according to the msp reference, is a logarithmic lowpass filter for smoothing envelops. Anything similar will do. I'm using vline~ for now to smooth out midi faders but it doesn't feel quite the same. And on a related subject: what is the best way to create an exponential signal ramp? now, some files come in ratios as one symbol like this 5/4 3/2 7/4 I'd need to break them into different characters, then treat as numbers to get interval in cents. How do I do that? udp broadcasting with netsend: permission denied in Linux

Hi, I've used netsend for broadcasting UDP packets to the local network for years, connecting to 255.255.255.255:5000 (or any other port >1024) and I never had problems under Windows. However in Linux it doesn't work, it doesn't connect. If I run Pd from a terminal, I see this error in the terminal output: "connecting stream socket: Permission denied (13)" (one of the few errors that don't appear in the pd console btw). I remember mentioning this some time ago and being told that it had been fixed, but it seems it isn't. Is there a way to circumvent this and be able to broadcast udp packets with netsend? thanks m.

No basic objects in pd-extended from sf git-repo

Hello. What I need to to for build pd-extended from sourceforge git right way? I compiled and installed pd-extended from git, but as I see -- in this repo directory 'extra' contains only output~.pd and help patch for this. And when I opening some of my pd-patches I have no [bnd], [tgl], etc. I need something else before compiling or after? Thanks.

Pd-Extended_0.43.4 with 64-bit Mac OSX 10.8.5

Dear IOhannes, dear Jonathan, dear list, I feel ashamed (and old-fashioned) as I have not seen this new feature of Pd as a feature I am afraid. Thanks for pointing it out to me. I think it is a nice addon, but also wonder if there is a nice way to disable this functionality at all. Is there an easy way to do it, or to diff the source files of Pd accordingly?
