Hi, Another question in a very general vein. I asked this on the Csound list a while back (when i was using csound) with good results. I'm trying to produce an acidy type sound (eg 303) and having trouble as my current saw-tooth-through-a-vcf just sounds pretty wimpy. Any ideas on how to fatten it up a bit? I'm not looking for a perfect reproduction of the 303 sound, just a nice acid sound. Hints? Tips? Is there some place where people post interesting Pd patches they've created for others to download at try out? Should there be? window-switching on OSX?

How do I switch between open windows on OSX using the keyboard? On PC I used to be able to Ctrl-Tab. I'm sorry for this more like OT, it's just my thought about improving PD and it's externals in another way. I'm struggling ... PD is one of the best tools for making people learn/experiment/perform/interact digital/electronic art at it's best. But where are the people that are PD's target. I'm trying to suggest that PD should try to follow a Popper-alike way of developing. Make it easy accessable for the people and use their input. Except if PD and it's externals are purely egoistic developments, which i don't think is the case ;) The more people you can involve the more feedback/developer/help you get in improving. I'm sorry for saying such things, as it is something that is an actual idea of most of the people here, i'm not trying to sell you for stupid. Maybe i'm just frustrated about my own lack of skill. I was fascinated about projects like pdp, gridflow and especially desiredata. But installing them is a hell for me as a OS X user, and the least i wanna do is search/install for all the necessary things. Now just some suggestions (excuse me for being rude): - Vastly improvement of the webcommunity, very important: Except for a very good maillinglist there is no real source for a community for pd on the net. The forum at hurleur.com is a joke, and that the official site is deadland is just sad. Furthermore the site needs to be ordered and probably hardly overworked, there is nothing wrong in making it accesible to as many people as possible by runnig it in plone, but is it nessecary? The people accesing the site now will probably not need that the site is universible compatible with every last browser on this earth and history, etc. - Improvement in usability of PD & e(xternals): Projects like the installers of iOhannes and desiredata are genial! All externals should follow a path where they can make themself accesible to the public with ease. It must be very frustrating to put lot's of effort and time into something and then nobody wants it. - And last, the documentation: Order, Unifying, Improve Please don't kill me for this mail. Lately i had a message in a Fortune-Cookie saying that "i have a reputation for being very straight forward and honest", i agree and want to follow that path. This mail is not meant to flame or criticize, especially not the developers. I bow down in front of the huge effort all of you put into PD & e. I'd like to help, but I am not going to have time. I'll be on tour starting Sat. for two months. Any flext people want to try to get flext builds in Pd-extended? There could also be a Pd-devel-extended without too much work. gemmouse wish

Hi, it would be very helpful to change the behaviour of gemmouse a little bit (to get similar results to the translation of objects in the gemwindow). [gemmouse 8] should normalize to the height (like gemwin) and not to the width. given a rectangular gemwin any aspect ratio (no difference between 2:1 and 1:2...) always normalizes to the height and sets (with the default view) the top and bottom borders to +4 and -4 gemmouse 8 on the other hand normalizes to the width. this makes it very difficult (unpossible?) to build mouse interaction with variable window sizes. another feature wish: to be able to tell the dimensions of the gemwin. esp. after resizing by mousedrawing. thanks, marius.

rfcomm and comport device list

hi all, iÅ½m running pd 0.39-1 on 2.6.17-gentoo-r8 and reading data from an incoming bluetooth device via bluezÅ½s rfcomm. after connecting: # rfcomm connect 1 Connected /dev/rfcomm1 to 10:00:E8:52:32:CE on channel 1 i can do: # cat /dev/rfcomm1 which cats all my incoming data correctly, but if iÅ½m printing device-list with comport-object, it pathetically outputs: [comport]: available serial ports: 0 /dev/ttyS0 thanks for any advice/hint /g btw. stupid newbie question: how can i access /dev/tty without starting pd as root?

PD synth concepts embedded in atmel or arduinos

Hi, I know this could go off topic pretty fast, but I think this Is PD related and some people here will be interested (more than in arduino forum). I was playing with arduino with that examples that plays a buzzer just applying volts with delayMicroseconds() function. So I realized how nice would be if we could implement some PD ~ objects concepts (like delay lines, filters, oscilators, envelopes) in a arduino library (create something like a Synthesis library). Someone have tried something like this? I know that atmega168 have a lot of limitations for audio dsp, but it could be for lo-fi and bitcrushed sounds for studies and fun. well... if this still too off topic for here, there's a topic related in the arduino forum: http://www.arduino.cc/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1176970454 but there's just few comments, this is the reason I thought here could be a place to find some interested people... thanx glerm
