Hi, Another question in a very general vein. I asked this on the Csound list a while back (when i was using csound) with good results. I'm trying to produce an acidy type sound (eg 303) and having trouble as my current saw-tooth-through-a-vcf just sounds pretty wimpy. Any ideas on how to fatten it up a bit? I'm not looking for a perfect reproduction of the 303 sound, just a nice acid sound. Hints? Tips? Is there some place where people post interesting Pd patches they've created for others to download at try out? Should there be? midi clock for pd on NT?

Hi all, I need to create a message as follows (a gem pix_image open command) open ../../db/0/10 Where 0 and 10 are numbers generated by math objects, its a hierarhcy of Images I'm mapping to an equation. Its a lot like makefilename, but I need to do two subsitutions. Best solution would be something like printf which replaces a placeholder with incoming data: pack 0 10 | foo "open ../../db/%s/%s" fine if it can only do strings... I looked in the pdb without luck, any suggestions? Thanks Ben

wacom usb tablet as controller ?

hi, as i got a wacom usb tablet lying around, i was wondering if it would be possible to use it as a controller for PD ? so, - what settings (and where) do i have to add to get tablet activated ? (but NOT as mouse for Xserver, you know; i want to use my normal mouse for Xserver and the tablet ONLY for PD) - what external do i need for PD ? i found "many" things in archive but none "ready to use" solutions for PD... even "dirty hacks" would make my happy ;) (like copying tuner.o to tuner1.o to get 2 different tuner cards work with pdp) thnx@advance -andre

Hey All, Part of my needs for the launcher is the ability to start multiple configuration sets, not just a single configuration. Can one point PD to using another .pdrc file? (pd -rc c:\windows\profiles\bbogart\.pdrc-EMI) This would be useful for a default configuration... I'm really not sold on the pdrc as a way of storing sets of configs, I think scripts (under linux and OSX) and shortcuts (under windows) is the best way for that, that way the configs are seperate from the laucher program, which only manages (and/or starts PD) the config sets. Installing PD under Linux

Hi, I just installed Linux for the main purpose of using PD under Linux. However, when I try to install the pd rpm file under RH9, I get the following message: "libtcl.so.0 is required by PD libtk.so.0 is required by PD" As far as I know (not much I'm afraid) the libraries to TCL/TK have been installed as part of the default installation of RH9. Is this a PD install or a RedHat install problem? Could someone poit me in the right direction? Thanks Normand

how to split a symbol into its component char's? e.g. mySymbol[3]

hey folks, I've been digging around everywhere trying to find a suitible object to help me split a symbol into a bunch of characters, similar to how you would in c-like languages -- mySymbol[3] ideally i'd like to keep my external dependancies to a minimus, so using built only in objects or zexy would be a plus, but if you can think of a way to achieve this with any extern i'd appriciate hearing about it. -josh -- ____________________________________________________ independent u.s. drum'n'bass -- http://vitriolix.com

blanco patches in pd-0.37-test4 OSX

Hello, I used pd-0.36 on osx before, but now it wont work anymore. Recently i upgraded to osx version 10.2.6. I installed TclTk8.4.2 and tried to run pd-0.37-test4. I can see the pd window and choose "new" from the file menu. When I try to put something in the new window nothing happens. Also when i open an existing example patch i get a blanco window. The previous version (0.36-something) now has more or less the same problem. On trying to put an object there, pd just shuts down and the terminal says: Consistency check failed: glist_findrtext pd_gui: pd process exited What could be the problem here ? thanks

Compiling zexy on Mac OS X

Hello all, I got the latest version of the externals off of the SourceForge site, and compiled the zexy externals. Once I got an error about the missing 'ftime' function. After checking into it a bit, I figured that I would just NOT compile the z_datetime external. So, everything else appears to be working. Does anyone know about getting the 'ftime' function on Mac OS X?? From the references I found on the internet, it says that this function is prototyped in <sys/time.h>, but zexy seems to go out of its way to include that file just for Mac OS X. Is there something I am missing? I am running OS X 10.2.6. Also, I noticed that the 'tabread4' in zexy conflicts with the built-in object with that name. Are they functionally the same? Is there a later version of zexy that fixes these problem? Thanks, Mike
