[PD-announce] New release of Pd-L2Ork, L2Ork Tweeter, and WebPdL2Ork

Dear all, Another release of pd-l2ork version 20241014 is now available. It fixes one potential crash and completes the integration of pure-data 0.54 objects. listbox and dropdown now have the same benefits like all pd-l2ork gui objects, allowing them to toggle their interactivity (mouse/keyboard input) and/or make their keyboard input exclusive (toggle the ability of the rest of the pd-l2ork to receive keyboard events while they are focused). This is particularly useful if you wish to disable a part of the GUI under certain circumstances, something that is also used extensively inside L2Ork Tweeter. Speaking of which, the new version also has the L2Ork Tweeter version 0.84. The newly added and updated GUI objects also enjoy other pd-l2ork benefits, like the ability to cut/copy/paste and append (shift+click) contents. The flatpak release now also includes aarch64 platform and supports Raspberry Pis 5 and other hardware that has dropped arm6 support. Lastly, WebPdL2Ork has also seen its version bumped with a few small usability fixes. AOO 2.0-pre4 released!

Hi, I'm happy to announce the release of AOO 2.0-pre4. Binaries are already available on Deken. --- AOO is a lightweight and flexible peer-to-peer audio streaming and messaging solution. It allows to send audio and messages in real time and on demand between arbitrary network endpoints, not only in local networks, but also over the public internet! The underlying C/C++ library can be easily embedded in host applications or plugins and even runs on embedded devices, such as the ESP32. Multicore on Pi using pd~ object

Hello! I’m attempting to use the pd~ object for the first time on a Raspberry Pi, with the idea of taking advantage of the multiple CPU cores. I’m using a Pi 3 with the latest 64bit “headless” OS, running Pd 0.53.1 (installed via apt-get). My understanding is that using the pd~ object should run each instance of a patch on a different core of the Pi. Here’s the test patch: https://github.com/yannseznec/multicoreTest On the command line, i'm attempting to run the "multiTest.pd" file like so: pd -nogui multiTest.pd Pd launches and it gives me the message "pd~ version 0.54" but there is no sound. Running only the subpatch (rand_osc.pd) produces a single sine tone as expected. Am I using the pd~ object incorrectly, or misunderstanding something about how this should all work? Thanks! Yann

Not receiving mailing list replies to own thread?

break a variable length list at a specific element

Hi list, I am having lists with a variable number of items and I want to break them up two lists dependent on the presence of a specific item. I can't seem to understand how to do it though. Here's a quick example of what I mean: 1 2 3 4 5 6 look for the number 4 and output two lists (at separate outlets) which are before and after that number 4, giving: 1 2 3 and 5 6 respectively I'd need the solution to work for lists of other lengths as well, i.e. 55 66 77 88 4 102 -33 should be broken up into 55 66 77 88 and 102 -33 alike. I tried [route] and [list] objects but can't get them to do what I want. thanks! P

Honestly, I would not suggest using LuaJIT by default. It doesn't have support for as many archs and systems as a pure C project like Lua, due to the assembly. I say that having a Lua-based project in openFrameworks for over 10 years: I keep the Lua version up to date with the latest stable release, but make it possible for people to use LuaJIT. Yeah, +1 for pdlua for me! Here's a few more reasons I'd love to see this: * pdlua objects require vastly less boiler-plate code than C externals. Especially for signals and graphics, it takes care of all the hard parts and common pitfalls for you. * As a result, creating pdlua objects is much more beginner friendly, and experienced programmers are less likely to make mistakes. Not requiring compilation makes writing coded externals as accessible as abstractions are currently. * The biggest weakness for a project like pdlua is needing to be installed manually. This discourages people from directly uploading their Lua objects on Deken. Like porres said, ELSE now ships with pdlua just so that we can ship lua objects. It would be amazing if we could assume them to just work. * As you might know, Lua is very compact, it can be compiled by adding "onelua.c" to your sources, and it has no external dependencies. For ease of maintenance, it's as good at it gets. Lua is also fast for a scripting language. Seems like the perfect fit for pure-data.
