Hi list, hi Guenther, It seems as if the Pd-Linux Webpage is down. How could I get the Linux sources for Pd? Regards Joerg

well, it took me longer to realise that the postcommands where already there than to actually solve the problem , ;) , which turned out to be related to 2 different versions of freetype ... and yeah, it would be really nice if the error-or-startupreports would be a bit more detailed ... could have saved this or another hour ... ;) tknks anyway, ltr .. yo! hi all, a brief summary of my recent escapades in pd and gem on linux: 1: finally got a decent setup running on my redhat 5.1 notebook, also i was able to get running Gem on this machine with the latest gem-0.77, sincfe guenther reorganized the library checking order in configure ... no midi here though, but that i guess got to do with my midisetup generally .. 2: i also installed the evaluatoin version of OSS/Linux (on another machine), the comercial sound driver package, and hey, it operates the soundblaster awe64 in FULLDUPLEX mode, isnt that amazing? i didnt try with any other cards though ... 3: a strange thing with gem appeared on two desktop mnachines, namely, when after successfully compiling gem trying to start "pd -lib $PATH_TO_GEM/Gem", nothing really happens, looks like this: $ pd -lib /home/opt/pd/gem-0.77/Gem Pd version 0.23 compiled Wed Oct 21 21:26:40 CEST 1998 $ thats all, pd doesnt even start up or anything ..it just exits after these two lines .. any ideas? jodel, oswald

There were obviously numerous bugs and other changes, but I found those two to have the biggest impact...and sources of problems (at least in GEM). No, 22-4 -> all MIDI worked, 23-1->no MIDI worked, 23-4->seg.fault on MIDI out. > How does this ineffectiveness show itself ? PD connects to MIDI port, all audio is fine, but in any 23 release, I do not have MIDI (although it appears to connect), and in the lastest release, MIID output cause immediate seg fault. > The step from pd-0.22 to pd-0.23 was rather big, but probably only Miller and Mark can shed some light on what > really changed. I suspect this error is more subtle than just your 23-4 changes, Guenter, because of the loss of fuctionality at 23-1. Your changes may just have exposed where RedHat OSS fails with new 0.23 scheme. CharlieB PS: my Keykit and playmidi programs are quite functional, so I doubt it's related to my *specific* RH setup.

Download problems with WinNT version

Hi list, hi Miller I tried several times to download the new WinNt version but every time the process finishes when 795 kb is downloaded. According to the page and to the download window it should be 3.3 M. If I then try to open the archive the unzipper tells me that my pd file is not a valid archive. Question: has anyone experienced the same problem since the new patch has been published?
