Serial Interface comport for NT and Linux

Since we somebody asked, I have updated the comport external (serial interface) now that it works on Linux and NT. See: http://iem.kug.ac.at/pdwiki/index.php?ComPort http://iem.kug.ac.at/ritsch/programmier/pd_externals/ Needed help: Since I am no W!nd!ws-Guru: There is in the VC-Help mentioned that using this kind of ReadFile(...) function could block. Since I set the timeouts to zero it works ok on my machines. I have tried the Eventhandler-Wait-Stuff but didnt succeed with that. So PLEASE W!nd!ws-Gurus out there have a look at the code and correct it, if needed and send me a note (ritsch(a)iem.kug.ac.at). ...thanx in advance mfg winfried

Hi list! On Silicon Graphics computers you can record directly from pd to the little sound designer program, without problems. Is there a way in windows to create direct access from pd to say Pro Tools or Wavelab or a midisequenser? Should this be by creating several audio and MIDI inputs and outputs, and how would you do this? Greetings from Jørgen

pd netsend and netreceive

Hi, I have been playing around with netsend and netreceive with a few computers here in our studio but i am a little confused as to how I can run one patch from the data being sent from another computer, what i mean is when i connect a netreceive object to a number box it says no method for netreceive, the only way i can see the data is in the main pd dos shell, i'm sure that there is a way to connect it to an object other than print? I have the connection up and running but it's basically how to display my data in a patch? If anybody understands what i have just tried to explain i will be very surprised! passing symbols into an abstraction

I have two patches. stereo-sample.pd reads the given file name into tables, and at the outlets puts the size of the sample, the name of the left table, and the name of the right table. foo.pd tests stereo-sample.pd. I can't figure out how to get these to work, and Pd33 crashes when I click on the message connected to the inlet to stereo-sample.pd. Thanks in advance for any help. ---- (jfm3)

PD reading data from textfiles

I was wondering if it it possible to read data from a textfile? I have written a program which outputs a list of roughly a thousand frequencies, it is possible to read this data systematically one after another until an oscillator has read all the frequencies, it's rather like having a thousand message boxs being banged, one after another, using a metro as a timing device, which is obviously not an option! To micheal edwards, just like others maths related problems in Pd I've used hard maths formula ,first writing in psuedo code. Thanks G i now have it sorted, only thing is it's a bit slow? I was running gem graphics in one computer and my patch from another just as a test however it was quite slow?
