Preset management for Pd Vanilla

Never really needed fancy preset management other than storing messages in a basic vanilla way. But I've seen people mention how Pd lacks a nice preset system. Not that I know what a fancy one actually needs since I never felt the demand. So I'm here to ask what people use in Pd Vanilla, be it a pure vanilla solution or an external. And also to ask what people miss. This is what I came up with as a pure vanilla abstraction, it's based on [text] and [savestate]. You can have many of these on your patch and use them to recall presets for any parameters. It takes any kind of messages. I'm making use of built-in sends and receives in the number boxes to make the patch cleaner. Just think that you can have separate control of each parameter having its own preset or group all of them together globally, or a group here and another there, whatever... Once you save the patch, the presets you saved get stored in the patch. As for my current idea for my ELSE library, I'm using an object similar to grab to take messages from [receive] objects. It's a development over this original vanilla abstraction. My first draft is this, I hope that sharing the screenshot give you a nice idea. soundtouch~ for Pd Vanilla

Hi folks, I'm on a vibe of uploading missing libraries and objects for Pd Vanilla on deken. On the list I have FFTease, Lyonpotpourri, CICM-Tools and more stuff that I'm looking into, just so you know... Now, I see there's an old soundtouch~ external here: http://www.katjaas.nl/pitchshift/soundtouch~.html - it's "version 0.9" by Katja Vetter. It was developed with SoundTouch version 1.6 and Pure Data version 0.42. I tested on Pd 0.51-4 32 bits on mac and it works fine. There are binaries for download on the link above, but not for 64 bits. I wonder if anyone wants to help me build these with pd-lib-builder and all. Now, the ceammc librarym (and Pd-ceammc distribution) has a soundtouch~ external too. It's the same name, but not the same external, this one is marked as "version 0.1". So we do already have "a" soundtouch~ for vanilla, but I wanted to also get katja's external up there. So I just uploaded the download from that page here https://github.com/porres/pd-soundtouch - It's just the download as it is and we need to change to hopefully use pd-lib-builder, which would make things easier. I did try that and it didn't work. So, anyone onboard with this? cheers

MIDI specifications for Multidimensional Polyphonic Expression (MPE) in Pd

some new objects for MPE Midi is on Max's new update, just googled it to see what it was http://expressiveness.org/2015/04/24/midi-specifications-for-multidimension… wonder if you guys know anything about this and if anyone would be into bringing this to Pd. cheers

cannot find ggee external - I need [shell] or [command]

Hi list I need the [shell] object to trigger python codes from within Pure Data. I am trying on raspberry os, with a raspberry 4, Pd version 0.51.4. But it would be usefull also for pc as in schools I rarely meet linux users, unfortunately. I checked here https://puredata.info/docs/ListOfPdExternals/ where it says that flatspace or ggee or flatspace/ggee would have this object. But in Dekken (Find externals) I do not get any result. Prototype for adding an object browser into Pd Vanilla's core

Hi everyone, I made a prototype of a GUI addition that I would really like to have included in the Pd-Vanilla distribution. I don't don;t think it is worth or plan to provide it as a tcl/tk plugin and I'll get to that soon. Nonetheless, as a prototype for anyone to easily test, I did upload object-browser-test-plugin to deken and you can get it. You can also check https://github.com/porres/object-browser-test-plugin And what does it do? When you right click anywhere on a patch canvas you can go to 'add object' which gives you a menu of all Pd objects that you can then choose from and it'll add the element exactly where you right clicked at. This is possible regardless if you're in edit or run mode. See screenshot below. [image: Screen Shot 2023-03-10 at 02.32.26.png] I got the idea and basis from Pd-ceammc, by the way. But PlugData is also working on something similar, why not offer an official one upstream? As someone who uses Pd to teach newbies all the time, I believe something like this would help them much more in the learning curve. The general consensus from users when I mentioned this on the facebook group (and other places) was quite positive. I understand though that there might be concerns in maintaining this and keeping the core light. Well, if it gets included, I plan to take care of it and do things like insert a new object whenever it comes up as long as I live. I am relatively young and don't have plans to die soon. This would be part of my documentation engagement. And once it is in, I guess the load won't be relevant. I think this is problematic to keep as a plugin as it'll mostly be missed by users. Another problem is that I think it is hard to maintain this out of the core and I say this because while my plugin works now, it is already broken for the current master on github, so it won't work on the next update. It really makes sense to keep this in the core then. By the way, it already includes the not yet released [snake~ in]/[snake~ out] objects, and when I wanted to test this with the latest current version is when I found out it breaks. But it works up to 0.53-2 (at least with its test version that you can find). And yes, I added options for objects that have a function defined by the 1st argument (such as [array random]), [snake~ in/out], ect). I also added options to add GUIs, message boxes, list box, etc... Is anyone bummed out and would have some sort of issue with this functionality? Worst case scenario I guess would be to allow some configuration in preferences to disable this, but I can't see this as an annoying addition. I think that even for me (someone who revised and wrote references for ALL objects) this is useful, as even I can forget the name of an object sometimes... what are your thoughts? cheers

Gem v0.94-snapshot crashing on MacOS 10.15.7 when creating [gemwin]

Hi list, it seems that Gem v0.94-snapshot from Deken within Pd 0.51.4 does crash silently when a gemwin Object is created on MacOS Catalina 10.15.7. What to try next? Thanks! Peter

deken server CORS headers

Hello All, For a work project I'm building a pd library/object wiki thing. I was trying to make a feature that allowed import from deken object lists. I was wondering if there would be any reason not to support CORS on the deken server? Right now I can't fetch from the browser unless I disable browser CORS. thanks,-seb

To Pd-announce: Pd version 0.54-0test1 is available from http://msp.ucsd.edu/software.htm or (source only) via github: https://github.com/pure-data/pure-data New features include multi-channel signal connections and updated windows audio. The new window version uses an audio subsystem that became available in windows 7 (so won't work on Windows XP any more but should be fine for windows 7 or newer). Windows 11 create [plot], open plot-help, open plot-template. the visibility examples only have visible effect when changing the size of the plot-data window! (in my own, more complicated, use of graphs i have to move the cursor in and out of the graph-'window'). rolf

iem_ambi/ambi_encode (3D) channel order

Hello, Hello everyone, I have a question regarding the iem_ambi library. I'm wondering if the lib works with channels in the order of SID (Speaker ID) or ACN (Ambisonics Channel Number). From what I understood, it operates in the SID order, but I would like to confirm this since I'm working with the IEM Plugin Suite, which utilizes the Ambix/ACN format. Currently, I'm working on creating granular processes, and it seems that it would be easier to perform encoding (using the [clone] object) without needing a VST plugin for each grain. If anyone has any insights or tips on this matter, they would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!
