searchpath inside patch

Is there a possibility to put a statement (relative pathname) inside a patch where to look for additional abstractions, for example to search for abstractions inside a subfolder "abs" which is in the same directory than the patch itself. Thanks for help, Achim

Hi, Another question in a very general vein. I asked this on the Csound list a while back (when i was using csound) with good results. I'm trying to produce an acidy type sound (eg 303) and having trouble as my current saw-tooth-through-a-vcf just sounds pretty wimpy. Any ideas on how to fatten it up a bit? I'm not looking for a perfect reproduction of the 303 sound, just a nice acid sound. Hints? Tips? Is there some place where people post interesting Pd patches they've created for others to download at try out? Should there be? window-switching on OSX?

How do I switch between open windows on OSX using the keyboard? On PC I used to be able to Ctrl-Tab. jack_transport improvements

I've added some code to the jack_transport external (tb/jack_transport/ in pd-extended) to show the current bar/beat (and also bpm and tempo) in real time. Messages are only sent out when pd is computing audio, and also no more than once per beat (to avoid floods of messages). I'm not outputting all the available information from the jack transport -- e.g. the current tick within the beat -- either because it updates too quickly or because it's just not useful to me, but it would be trivial to add those. The motivation here is that I'm using klick -- http://das.nasophon.de/klick/ -- as the jack transport master (mainly to control sooperlooper), and now it is possible to trigger events within pd at particular beats or bar numbers. The code is available at http://artdent.homelinux.net/svn/jack_transport~/ . The makefile should be suitable for building jack_transport~ from inside a directory that is sibling to the existing jack_transport. I've only tested it on Linux, but it should work anywhere jack_transport does. I hope this external is useful to others. Hi, I am new on this list. I tried to find some informations about syncing PD and Jack transport/BPM in the archive list but I am not satisfied :D I am making an Audio sequencer with PD, and I would like to use it with other linux softwares (seq24, hydrogens, freewheeling,...). So I need to synchronise PD and Jack with MIDI or OSC; I saw on the archive list some module like midirealtimein but it doesn't seems to work for me. Only receive zeros. Today I am trying to use jack.tools, to synchronise with OSC (jack.osc). I can send /start /stop messages, but I don't understand how I can send transport informations, bpm ... remote SL users..?

hey, Anyone else out there using one of the Novation Remote products to control PD? I have a series of patches I've built which allow me to manipulate everything I need without ever going near the actual computer - everything's painstakingly hand-mapped to a knob on the controller. I recently sent Novation an email about releasing the Automap SDK - they said they'd do so 'in a few weeks' - this was a few weeks ago, so it's hopefully imminent. I'm sorry for this more like OT, it's just my thought about improving PD and it's externals in another way. I'm struggling ... PD is one of the best tools for making people learn/experiment/perform/interact digital/electronic art at it's best. But where are the people that are PD's target. I'm trying to suggest that PD should try to follow a Popper-alike way of developing. Make it easy accessable for the people and use their input. Except if PD and it's externals are purely egoistic developments, which i don't think is the case ;) The more people you can involve the more feedback/developer/help you get in improving. I'm sorry for saying such things, as it is something that is an actual idea of most of the people here, i'm not trying to sell you for stupid. Maybe i'm just frustrated about my own lack of skill. I was fascinated about projects like pdp, gridflow and especially desiredata. But installing them is a hell for me as a OS X user, and the least i wanna do is search/install for all the necessary things. Now just some suggestions (excuse me for being rude): - Vastly improvement of the webcommunity, very important: Except for a very good maillinglist there is no real source for a community for pd on the net. The forum at hurleur.com is a joke, and that the official site is deadland is just sad. Furthermore the site needs to be ordered and probably hardly overworked, there is nothing wrong in making it accesible to as many people as possible by runnig it in plone, but is it nessecary? The people accesing the site now will probably not need that the site is universible compatible with every last browser on this earth and history, etc. - Improvement in usability of PD & e(xternals): Projects like the installers of iOhannes and desiredata are genial! All externals should follow a path where they can make themself accesible to the public with ease. It must be very frustrating to put lot's of effort and time into something and then nobody wants it. - And last, the documentation: Order, Unifying, Improve Please don't kill me for this mail. Lately i had a message in a Fortune-Cookie saying that "i have a reputation for being very straight forward and honest", i agree and want to follow that path. This mail is not meant to flame or criticize, especially not the developers. I bow down in front of the huge effort all of you put into PD & e. Hi Jim,I developed an external with Adrian 'Packrat' Taylor that allows pd to talk to the Enttec USB DMX Pro. It is called [dmxsend], and is part of the Packrat library (.dll). You can find it at www.packratproductions.com.au/davidkirkpatrick. I've included a simple help patch to show the basic functions and how they work. If you have any questions, let me know. Also, if you want to try and get it working on OSX or linux you're welcome to try.
