sure! Here are more informations:
when using pd 0.53 this expression was valid. using 0.55.2 it returns this error.
On a linux build ( not sure if that matters...)

(this question is not to imply that I believe that the expression never was valid, but in order to establish a rough timeline)
also, "expr" has long ceased to be a(n external) library (at least for Pd), so I wonder about which "expr-specific releases" you are talking about.
