hooray.
it took me a while to prepare binaries for our Linux users (well, those that do not want to compile themselves, at least)
see https://flathub.org/apps/info.puredata.Pd
Ubuntu/22.04 (jammy), Ubuntu/24.04 (plucky) and Ubuntu/25.04 (noble) see https://launchpad.net/~pure-data/+archive/ubuntu/pure-data
deep freeze and will hopefully be released over the weekend. Debian/trixie will come with Pd-0.55-2 once Debian/trixie has been released, I will upload Pd-0.56-0 to Debian/unstable like usual.
happy patching.

Thanks for this Pd release !

=> but ELSE v.1.0-0 rc13 rev.2 install thru Deken: A long list of errors in red
this is unfortunately to be expected for externals that use private symbols of Pd.
There are quite a number of functions that Pd makes no guarantee about (eg whether they will be still available in the next release), but externals are able to use them - at their own risk. ELSE took this risk... maybe other externals as well.
(perhaps miller decides to put the missing function back in, maybe not)
the good news is, that since Pd-0.55 externals *can* actually query at runtime, whether a given function is available.

For anyone curious, this can be done with the "sys_getfunbyname" function (which has been added in Pd-0.55).
Thanks to IOhannes, Raphael and Christof for theirs answers / explanations. :-) I'm still learning each day about Pd's features.
Best, Joseph
