For some reason pix_video isn't working for me. I've tried a few different webcams, all of which work in other programs. I'm on a 64 bit Linux Jaunty machine and using
Pd version 0.42.4. GEM: ver: 0.91.3 'tigital'
I keep getting this error in the console when I select a camera using a device message
VDIOCGCHAN: Invalid argument
Any thoughts how to track the problem down and get it working? Thanks,
Jim
hi jim,
I don't know what that error message is.
you should get the latest gem from svn and compile with libv4l-devel or libv4l-dev, i don't know how it's called in jaunty.
that seems to be solving many people's problems including my own. there is a bunch of posts about it.
best,
J

Thanks everyone. Yes it looks like I must have been using v4l2. This solved my problem
export LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so

buenas you could also get the current gem svn with: svn co https://pd-gem.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/pd-gem pd-gem and configure it with: ./configure --with-libv4l2 --with-pd=/pathtopdsources/ don't forget to install libv4l & libv4l-dev then set the driver of pix_video with a driver v4l2 message & it should work without the LD workaround! salutis olsen
