This seems like a silly question, but I can't for the life of me get the text2d and text3d objects to have color to them, using either the color or colorRGB objects in GEM 0.90, on OSX with Pd-extended 0/39 test 4. What am I missing here?

text3d and colorRGB work just fine here (even alpha blending). What hardware do you have?

text2d should probably not ever be used. It directly draws the text into the backbuffer and cannot be manipulated by the rest of the OpenGL pipeline. Performance is also terrible with text2d.

Yeah, I was using like 115% CPU with my patch, and changing the objects to text3d reduced the load to 25%!
