Hi all,
[comport] has just been enhanced with a few features that may be useful to know about. It's available on Deken as version 1.3.
Most of these additions are designed to facilitate the use of USB serial devices (e.g Arduino).
The new features allow to:
extend the valid baudrates to those allowed by the OS, up to 4MBds.
disable auto-opening the serial device at startup: [comport -1]
won't try to open anything.
devices, such as bluetooth related ones) using [ports usb( and [devices usb(.
it (other [comport]s must also use locking for this to work). Just send [lock 1( before opening.
Plus, the help patch has been rewritten to be more readable.
Hope it can be useful to someone (other than me;-)
Antoine

- enumerate only USB devices (this avoids trying to open problematic

Would it still be possible to use Arduino bluetooth communication? It would be a pity if this becomes impossible.
- "lock" the opened device, preventing other [comport]s from opening
it (other [comport]s must also use locking for this to work). Just send [lock 1( before opening.

Best!

Hi Edwin,
Would it still be possible to use Arduino bluetooth
of course! [ports( and [devices( still work normally (i.e enumerate all devices). Generally comport should behave exactly as before, if you don't use the new messages.

Cool! It's nice to see [comport] being taken care of. Sounds like very useful improvements. Thanks for your efforts!

thanks Antoine,
disable auto-opening the serial device at startup: [comport -1] won't try to open anything.
i appreciate this option very much, having many [comport]'s in one patch, which, until now, are cluttering the Pd-console with error-messages at start-up.
