To Pd-announce:
Pd version 0.56-0test2 is available from https://msp.ucsd.edu/software.htm or (source only) via github: https://github.com/pure-data/pure-data
This fixes problems running patches with many GOPs, and adds one feature, rescanning audio and midi devices so that you can hot-plug them while Pd is running. Rescanning of MIDI stuff is automatic whenever you start the dialog, but for audio you have to punch a "rescan" button in the dialog to see the updated list.
cheers Miller

thanks for this, miller!
however, eager to try out rescanning the audio device on Apple M1 Max, latest sequoia: when i open the preferences i get a stream of endless "PortMidi: Bad Pointer“ messages. it only stops when i exit Pd. screenshot attached.

folks, note that I documented setting colors in pd-messages.pd
also note that we do not take color names anymore, just hex symbols. The documentation has been updated already but wasn't merged in test2
when using color names, everything turns to black, so don't try it :) I also have a fix for that in the repository
cheers

Hi all, I'm looking forward to the final release of 56. But I've been running into an issue on macOS 15.5 where Pd segfaults when I simply close an open patch. I've narrowed it down to the [output~] abstraction that comes with the built-in documentation. Open a new patch, create [output~], close the patch = segfault. Can others reproduce this? I just opened an issue to track it: https://github.com/pure-data/pure-data/issues/2693
Thanks, William
