Hi List
i am quite desperate....;-(
Working on areally nice patch with boids and sound.
I have the latest available OS-X extended for Intel, which is still
from nightly autobuilds (20080505), because it has a working boid3D
external.
There is pmpd and Gem involved but the load meter is only a 30 percent.
After about 7 seconds of running the patch (no Gui-elemnt or number
box running) i start to have nasty crackle sounds.
I have no idea where they come from....i put the delay to 100 ms and
the -rt audioflag...
patch is attached
If anybody has an Idea ??

Best Luigi

hmmm, something crashes pd when I open the patch. it is not boids3d. marius.
Hi Luigi
I'd love to try this but gmail is turning your attachment into a "noname" file and the usual solution for that isn't working. If you have a sec could you zip or tar the file and resend it?
cheers dafydd

Sorry for the confusion - the missing abstractions...
I investigated and actually it seems to be a Gem Problem...I tried PD
0.41 - vanilla with a downloaded Gem and PD 0.39 - stable
always the same
I am working on a solution with two PD's running connected via OSC.
No better Idea
Thanks
Luigi

I think that is a good idea to run two instances of pd connected via
osc or via netsend/netreceive : one instance for sound the other for
Gem things.

a short look at the patch did not reveal anything spectacular that actually might crash Gem. how did you investigate? (just not loading Gem and everything works?)
what i don't like in the patch, is that it starts off as soon as it is loaded (imagine somebody has connected their dac to something loud) - btw, what's the point of embedding the testtone-patch and autostart it?
so: does it also crash when you run pd with "-noloadbang"? does it also crash when you create a gemwindow before loading the patch?
