Hi y'all,
Purr Data 2.12.0 has been released.
https://github.com/jonwwilkes/purr-data/releases/tag/2.12.0
Changes:
* vastly improved window sizing and scrollbar behavior. Now things
like the help patches with content that fits in the viewport should
load without scrollbars present. (thanks to Ico)
* show current text name (if any) in text editor for [text define]
* ported [text define] "send" method from Vanilla
* ported [text insert] from Vanilla
* ported [dac]/[adc] set method from Vanilla
* added French translation and improve German translation (thanks to
Albert and Joseph Gastelais)
* ensure plot traces remain in the bounding box of the graph (thanks to Ico)
* ported "symbol" method for [float] from Vanilla
* added "type hints" for errors wrt unusual or problematic Pd
messages. This includes
* symbol atom which would be parsed as a float if found in a Pd file
* same thing but with symbol messages, e.g., "symbol 43"
* empty symbol messages "symbol"
* empty symbol selector ""
* null selector
* symbol atoms/messages with weird "floatlike" data that would
underflow/overflow if loaded by a Pd file.
* ported "send" methods from Vanilla for [int], [float], and [value]
* document the "tempo" messages for relevant objects
* fixed a crasher with pasting from Pd patch file (thanks to Ico)
* fixed a long-standing crasher where editing an open GOP window would
hide everything except the patch cords under certain circumstances
* an object/gop being edited now has the same size as one that isn't
being edited (thanks to Ico)
* fixed keyboard shortcut for dropdown that caused problems for some
keyboard types (thanks to Albert)
* fixed ggee/image border selection when on GOP
* fixed long-standing bug with route where a bang wouldn't get sent to
the reject outlet
* fixed bug where nested gops erroneously showed a selection rectangle
* fixed a crasher with resizing a nesting GOP when dragging with the mouse
* custom scrollbars from Pd-l2ork 1.0 (thanks to Ico)
* increased gatom character width to 160
* fixed off-by-one problem with iemgui label positions
* fixed bar graph display when graph has its own window
* made a larger hitbox for xlet connection for easier patching (thanks to Ico)
* make default CSS match pd-l2ork 1.0 style
* different, "greyed-out" style for inlet hover (as an inlet can't
begin a connection with a mouse, but an outlet can)
Best,Jonathan
Hi Julian,
I think this is a bug in expr code. Incidentally I just recently noticed it
as well. I have not had a chance to find the bug yet, but as a work around
if you add spaces before and after the variables that have the $0, your
patch should open fine. I am listing your patch below which I edited
accordingly and it opens fine. Let me know if you are still seeing a
problem.
Cheers,
Shahrokh

Ok cool. I will make a test build with Tcl/Tk 8.6.10:
Pd-0.51-0-tk8610.zip <http://docs.danomatika.com/pdbuilds/0.51/Pd-0.51-0-tk8610.zip>
On my system, I can confirm that the canvas window background is no longer white by default, so IOhannes patch to force this is required.

Hi all,
[Apologies for cross-posting.]
How is Covid-19 changing musical instrument practice? At the University of Sussex we are running a survey exploring this question and we would be delighted if you would consider filling it out. We interpret the word ‘instrument’ broadly and take it to include the voice and music software for example.
We are interested in everyone’s reply, no matter what background, education, practice, genre or style. Amateurs and new musicians are especially welcome, so please feel free to share with your friends, family and networks.
Filling out the survey will take between 15-30 minutes of your time, and it hopefully invites you to reflect upon the meaning of music in your life:

Hi all,
I get the red audio i/o error on the console when i am using jack but I dont understand what it means.
Is there a way to fix that or should I not be worried? People I'm working on have the same error plus occasional crashes... I will get better error reporting on their end because I dont have crashes.
I'm using mojave 10.14.15
jack version 1.9.11 (binary from jackaudio.org)
pd-0.51 compiled (the error does not seem to be there when I try it with latest macos binary from msp.ucsd.edu)
Thanks in advance!

Dear all
A student at the uni here has ported for the DAW Reaper, very popular amongst this group I think, some of the Fluid Corpus Manipulation’s first toolbox for sound decomposition. It might interest some of you, either as a gateway to the Max/SuperCollider/PureData objects, or the command line versions… but I have to say I use them all the time, they are a fantastic extension even when one is fluent with their creative coding version.
I hope you enjoy!

ReaCoMa might also act as a gateway drug to the Max tools if you're a DAW first type of person. What I hope to do by sharing the project here is to bridge both of these workflows and create some cross pollination between the various people that sit in each camp. I've also started to issue tutorials for ReaCoMa which cover a number of topics including installation, usage and detailed insight into the algorithms which could function as a useful resource if you're interested more generally in this area.

(My mail program mangled this message for some reason, so I copy/pasted the quote below. I hope it's the correct one to respond to...)
> Right now I have the master audio stream (= the audio of all matrices) going into the clone object, so it sounds like i have several delay effects with different settings on the master channel. It sounds nice, but it is not what I want right now:)
Jakob, the next step would be to add a [switch~] object to each of the instances inside the clone object, then enable/disable based which one you want to use. That could work as dsp will not be performed on those which are switched off, saving CPU.
A simple solution is for each instance to accept an "on" message with a float (1 or 0) to enable/disable. Then to enable as ingle one, send a [all on 0< message followed by the single one to enable, [1 on 1<.

Yes. I will put the next libpd release with the pd core 0.51 which includes the network updates.
> More specifically, will we be able to run quacktrip or aoo from pdparty on ios :) ??
It should but not "built-in" as you will still need to add external sources to your project and statically compile them.
I have no plans to add additional external to PdParty right now, but you could try building PdParty yourself with any external you need. If everything works, I might consider it later, but I have no time to test things myself and I generally avoid throwing lots of things into the project that I will later have to support if I don't use them myself.
As per network latency, it should be fine on iOS as long as the app is foregrounded and there is enough networking to keep the connections alive. Best would be to have the device plugged into power to avoid any further power-saving mechanisms.

Hi all,
I just tried Pd 0.50-2 on my automatically updated mac under macos 11.0 big
sur.
And it doesn't work.
Pd console open fine but then a new patcher looks like a transparent
rectangle :
https://ibb.co/rfz2dxW
There is no warning nor error on the terminal or in Pd's console.
I tried the binary downloaded from puredata.info and also built it myself
without more success.
Has anyone already updated to Bigsur and successfully run Pd ?
Cheers
Antoine
