Hey guys,
Glad the tutorial was useful.
The creaky door and thunder patch with Alberto's
'Outer Space' patch sound perfect. Hope you had
a fun Halloween night.
cheers,
Andy

Hi,
there's an error (Pd-ext) when you use a canvas on gop with the command
label_pos. basically, the label just jumps to somewhere in the patch
(definite coordinates, not random).
Here is a test patch.

Joao

Hi list,
I just installed Linux (gutsy 7.10) on my computer, but for me it is totally
new and I am totally lost!!
I want to install pool from Thomas Grill, that is implemented to work with
sssad in my whole patch.
I downloaded the source from flext but I don't even know what "compile"
means and how to do it.All what I read about it is like chineese for me, so
if somebody would have the patience to point me on the right direction
explaining it like for a baby (that I am in this program's world), …
[View More]it would
be fantastic!
Thank's in advance,
Delphine

hi hans,
any news on this?
i tried to link to the intrepid repository for pd-extended today and
no luck :-(
as i am quite new to linux, i don´t know, what one would have to do,
to get it compiling.
chris wenn´s bloody hack mentioned earlier here:
http://lists.puredata.info/pipermail/pd-list/2008-09/065299.html
is a bit beyond me.
thanks

Call for Submissions 2009 Subtle Technologies Festival
Deadline January 5th 2009
The 2009 Subtle Technologies Festival is currently seeking submissions
for it’s festival under the theme of “networks” . The festival takes
place in Toronto from June 11 to June 14th . As in previous years, the
2009 festival will explore it’s theme from a broad cultural and
interdisciplinary perspective.
We live in an increasingly connected age, where flow of capital,
material goods, people and information …
[View More]occur on a global scale in
ever-shortening timescales. This increased flow is accompanied by
pollution,contamination, infectious diseases and the rapid dissemination
of ideas and economies. Metaphors of connectivity in information
technology have matured and found resonance in art, science, and society
at large. The availability of massive amounts of data supported by
increased computing power and the rapidity of its propagation, has made
the idea of interconnectedness more visible to us all. Science has made
great strides in helping us to understand the connected age. The so
called “small world problem” has revealed the ways networks of people
form and become interconnected. Studies of oscillators, insects, heart
cells, epilepsy, and crowds has shown us the natural affinity for
various networks and systems to synchronize and self organize.The
creation of new computer architectures based on biological networks has
brought artificial intelligence ever closer to natural intelligence.
With the proliferation of online social networks, Web 2.0 applications
such as Facebook, Twitter and Second Life have blurred the boundaries
between public and private, virtual and real. Web 3.0 and the “internet
of things”, where common household objects will become interconnected,
will be one of the next major advances in digital networking. Increased
bandwidth has made it possible for media artists to collaborate in
online real time networked performances. “Network lag” is slowly
disappearing from our vocabulary as our accessibility to bandwidth
improves. It is time to critically discuss the network metaphor and how
it affects the direction of various disciplines and our societies at
large. Under this theme, we will be curating a symposium, exhibition,
workshops and performances. Some specific topics which we will address
at this years festival include:
* net art
* networked performance
* biological networks
* wireless networks
* social networking
* communication, transportation and economic networks
* virtual worlds
* systems theory
* community networks
* network theory
* collaborative and open source initiatives
* online culture
* “small world problem” and mathematical models
* genetic networks
* To make a submission for exhibitions, symposium presentations,
workshops, performances and poster presentations please go to

Hi all,
Im a bit desperate to find a way to play video on an external screen
without Gem (or even X/Gnome) crashing.
Ive set up xorg.conf to a virtual screensize of the double
horizontally so as to have a projector read the video from the "right
part" of the screen, and still have my GUIs visible on the "left part"
(what is visible on my laptop screen).
This is how it looks in xorg.conf:
Section "Screen"
Identifier "Default Screen"
Device "Intel Corporation …
[View More]Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphi$
Monitor "Generic Monitor"
DefaultDepth 24
SubSection "Display"
Depth 24
Virtual 2048 768
EndSubSection
EndSection
The CPU jumps to 60% when playing video with the external screen on,
but lays nicely on 8-9% when only playing on the normal screen. I
guess lots of people are working with similar stuff - are there other
(more stable/safe/efficient) ways of getting to this? or is the high
CPU something to expect when using an external screen?
Are there any good ways of finding the source of Gem crashes btw?
Im very happy for any feedback as Im quite fresh on both Gem and projections :)
cheers,
Martin

Hello all,
It would appear that there is a lot of interest in these get-togethers
in various places...
How about we start a section on the PureData.org site for these, and
there could be a different page for each of the locations, telling
people when and where, and then do some sort of follow-up posting what
things were done during these sessions. It could contain patches
created, music played, as well as some general commentary from the
people in attendance.
If nothing else, people could …
[View More]use the future listings, if they are
going to be in an area, to stop by and join in the fun...
Just an idea... but one worth at least some discussion.
Mike

Hi,
pd-extended seems to depend on libmpeg1 but this package doesn't exist
in 4.0 lenny.
I had to install it from etch repository but don't know if it's a good
idea?
Same for ubuntu 8.10 intrepid.
All the best
Joël
I think the ones on that page were compiled for ppc
you need the intel build ones, which oddly don't feature on there...
(although the source is if you want to roll your own)
Download intel ones here then install as normal like the ppc package

Hi, all.
I uploaded some examples of my work with Pd to puredata.info. They are
renaissance motets that I've synthesized in Just Intonation. Hope you
enjoy. Let me know what you think.
Cheers,
David
