mp3amp~ skipping, looping...

Anybody having success with mp3amp~? I just compiled it on ubuntu Dapper and it is skipping/looping back on shoutcast streams that play fine using xmms or mplayer. The streams I have been checking are 128Kbits. I haven't checked other kbit rates. I tried pd-extended with its already-built mp3amp~ and had the same troubles. -John

PD Newbie 101

Hi folks, just about to dload & install PD. I've had some experience with Max, & after recently beginning to explore csound, a subsequent desire to (at least think about..) going all open source, a desire to make some GUI stuff for csound, & to check out some PMPD examples (boing!), i'm taking (another) deep breath, & biting the bullet. so PD here we go... So here's my initial questions/ want list. 1) how's the "out the box GUI" situation compared to max? the objects that get a real hammering from me (in Max) are Multislider & function (or better yet, the ej-ies JSUI function object) - is there a similar pair of "workhorses" ready to roll in PD? 2) is pfft~ & all related fft functionality available & built/ patched/ managed in the same way? 3) is there an Lobjects or equivalent for pd? 4) what's the best source of documentation for PD? (given i have some experience with Max, & spend much more time with the Reference manual than the tutorials at this stage.) 5) for the (perhaps many of you) like me who have made the switch, what pitfalls, windfalls, general timesaving advice would u give? Thanks folks! looking forward to us driving each other crazy! ; ) merry xmas Tim (my New Years resolution? an all linux audio PC by the end of 2007....if i can afford a new box to run it on by then that is..)

Stable version for Mac OSX 10.1

Hello all, I'm new to the list, and also pretty new to PD, but slowly getting there. I normally run PD on my iBook G4, but now I'm trying to get it going on my "old world" (no USB) G3 Powerbook, that'll only run OSX 10.1. The prebuild version I tried to put on it was not recognized as a package (.app) by 10.1 but just shows as a folder. Any pointers to a stable older version are welcome, so I can use my Powerbook as a small footprint controller (via OSC and such) for bigger patches and Triokatronix' Isadora on other macs. Gem Crashes

Hello, The following consistently crashes on winXP, with the latest extended build binary on Hans' page (test6), and with a newer version of PD (0.40.0): Open any [pix_whatever] reference file that uses an image load an image with [pix_image], either by typing a direct reference, or by using [openpanel] Create the gem window As soon as the Gem window is created, pd crashes entirely. Now, I used a version of Gem that is known to work with whatever version of PD is installed on my other computer. But I'm REALLY confused, that it would crash two rather different versions of PD, yet work okay on my other PC... Does this make any sense to anyboday? ~David

msd binaries

Installing Pd on Linux

So I untar this gz file and cd to the src directory. I follow the instructions, and pd installs to /home/chuckk/pd-0.40.0-2. If I first move the whole folder to /usr/local, I can't configure it as non-root. Thanks for taking the time to reply Frank. For the record, the function object is simply a mouse/ GUI breakpoint function editor. I'm hoping one day that such a beast will exist not only with "lines & breakpoint dots", but also perhaps a bit more like the pen tool in illustrator or photoshop, allowing for curvature to be defined between breakpoints.... I'll keep your "annotated converts diary" idea in mind. I'm still grappling with Csound primarily at this stage. But hopefully sometime over the Xmas new year break i'll have a chance to install & have an initial look over PD....

Hi Chris, the idea (and the music - the ogg) are really inspiring. However I cannot run the patch you posted, it gives me some errors (maybe stupid questions, sorry): 1) "sines" in the main patch abstraction is missing 2) "len" abstraction within resynth (and others) is missing 3) 2) error: tabread4~: bassshape: no such array ... you might be able to track this down from the Find menu. error: tabread4~: bshape: no such array error: tabread4~: snshape: no such array any hints? [PD-announce] visualisation with gem
