after one day messing around with compiling gem plus the additional needed
libraries/ tools i have the following status:
-pd 0.33 is fully working (sound output is working, tried some patches)
-gem still closes my pd-gui bringing an error message:
"Speicherzugriffsfehler" (which means memory access failure)
i tried to start pd with nogui, nosound, nomidi and a gem test patch which
opens the gemwin with a loadbang, but this still gives the same error.
"buffer 2" to gemwin also makes no difference.
gem compiled without any errors (including makeauxlib, configure,
make, make install)
all but GLUT was included in suseppc, the glutand mesa test-utilities were
fully working
the system is a G3 powerbook (wall street), 192mb ram, ati mach64 graphics
card
i have no clue what else i could do to get gem running, please give me
some hints.
thanks a lot

Dear list.
I need some help !!!
I whant to change what's in a message in a sub patch.
the $1 passing mecanisme don't work for message because they use $1 for
another purpose.
I can use a "set $1" message instead and use an inlet.
but $1 can't contains space. the "/" don't work the same way than in sh (due
to tk i have read somewhere) and cotting ("{''}") don't look to work.
1) is it possible to manage space in message ?
2) is there a way to "set" a complex message via an inlet ?
thanks
Thanks Olaf hopefully I will be able to discipher the
code and come up with a program that is a lot simpler!
In your program you use the midi out device, but is
there a way to incorporate a computers internal midi
device? Thanks again of the code!
Regards,
Rory.
