Hi Ben
I was browsing your stuff and it looked pretty spiffy, i must say. I am hoping to get a nice suite of tools for live performances this summer and pixelTango seemed like a nice compliment to GEM, PiDiP, and GRIDFLOW. All the help patches open fine but the examples would not.
I did not use the installer recommended because of my patched build for Jamie's Stuff.
I still say we need to connect the pixelTango/GEM/Pidip/Gridflow to the AccessGrid next
AGNODE._pd.darwin anyone. ? :-)
I am pretty sure i am using python 2.3 (because of scons/csoudn stuff)
what do you suggest?

Hi,

What version are you using Pat?
The "official" pixelTANGO discussion list is video@tot.sat.qc.ca
The current development version is the most stable, 0.3.3 which is under "development files" on the main pixelTANGO website:
www.tot.sat.qc.ca
Click on pixelTANGO on the left menu.
The problem your having sounds like the one fixed by using python rather than tot to do scripting stuff.
Please download the latest and let me know if that improves.

Hi Pat,
Since you have PiDiP working you may be the first to experiment with the possibility of using the fx/ interface to great PDP filter abstractions for pixelTANGO.
Try the installer and let me know if it still does not work. Are you using the latest version? 0.3.3? CVS snapshot?
If you mean Jamie's CoreGraphics extensions to tck/tk those are in the 0.3.3 pixelTANGO.app. Or do you mean something else?
If the .app still does not work on your machine you could do a gdb trace and let me know what causes PD to quit when you load an example. Are you using the pixelTANGO externals required that are included with pixelTANGO, or your own builds?
As for AccessGrid I was hoping get RA job working on something with AG again (I've long since left the university) But an art college here has CANet so there may be some more opportunities for accessgrid and PD. My initial thought was two fold. #1 a OSC multicasting server that could be used for OSC communication over the fiber-network. #2 Creating some interface between Thomas's py/pyext and the python API for accessgrid. We can use QTL files to get Gem to load network streams, though last time I heard QT did not differenciate between SRCID and then randomly chose the first stream that was available on a particular multicast region. Maybe they have fixed this? For streaming out apparently the GL to video stream for encoding is pretty tricky.

Hey Pat,
ok so open a terminal and get to the pixelTANGO.app's bin directory:
% cd /Applications/PixelTANGO/PixelTANGO.app/Contents/Resources/ % gdb pd <gdb> run
Now wait for PD to open and try and load the example...
you'll see a lot of "Reading symbols..." messages
If you see any "invalid command name ".x0.c.s16bf6c.menu" stuff let me know.
If it actually crashes you will see gdb go back to the gdb prompt and print some info. Record what gdb prints and also the output of:
<gdb> where
And send it to me.
I'm away this weekend so I'll probably not get a chance to look at it until next week.
