Hallo IOhannes, others!
Yesterday I compiled the new GEM from cvs with the following configure options: ./configure --disable-ARB
Now I have a very bad performance (which I haven't had before): e.g. if I play a simple movie, the output of top says:
2000 root 6 -10 92624 20m 68m S 83.0 4.1 1:06.93 XFree86 4687 holzi 15 0 50036 11m 26m S 2.3 2.4 0:00.90 pd 2233 holzi 15 0 29892 15m 26m S 0.3 3.1 0:01.75 kdeinit
So XFree86 uses 83 % cpu (and sometimes much more) - but only if I turn on rendering.
I also get the following error in the shell: Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":0.0".
Can I use some other configure options, so that the performance is not that bad anymore ?
Thanks, LG Georg

Do you really have DRI enabled? You can check with $ glxinfo | grep direct
