Hi,
i tried to install the new pd-extended on my fedora core 4 system. Since it's a binary distribution, it installs like a breeze. But i get this error message when i try to run pd:
pd: error while loading shared libraries: libjack-0.80.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
So i've downloaded jack, but it is at version 0.101.1 The 0.80 version is nowhere to be found. See this output:
# ldd /usr/local/bin/jackd linux-gate.so.1 => (0x00a75000) libjack.so.0 => /usr/local/lib/libjack.so.0 (0x006af000) libm.so.6 => /lib/libm.so.6 (0x00bbf000) libpthread.so.0 => /lib/libpthread.so.0 (0x00db6000) libdl.so.2 => /lib/libdl.so.2 (0x00be6000) libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0x00a94000) /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x00a76000)
But how to solve this? I see 3 ways:
but i cannot find it on the net. 2. I could compile pd myself, but i can only find this compiled version, not the source. 3. I could let go of the extended version, but the other versions do not work either. I have tried pd 0.38, but it will not compile and complains about a g_canvas. I guess i have some newer libs installed. 0.39 will compile, but the audio is broken when i start it.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
yvan
That version was compiled on Debian/stable, so it looks for the
Debian/stable name and location for libjack. I think you could
install libjack in the standard fedora way, then make a symlink to
that file called libjack-0.80.0.so.0.
Otherwise, there is a renewed effort to make RedHat packages (the
PlanetCCRMA ones are old and don't include much of what's in Pd-
extended). You could help out with that to speed up the process.
