I believe Hans-Christoph Steiner said this around Sat, 8 Feb 2003:
g_canvas.c> /var/tmp//ccPYgzgh.s:unknown:FATAL:can't create output file:
../obj/g_canvas.o make: *** [g_canvas.o] Error 1
Are the temporary build directories ../obj and ../bin present in your directory tree next to pd/src? Sometimes CVS puts it there for you, sometimes not.
That was it. I have my cvs setup to checkout using -P to 'prune' any empty directories, therefore I didn't get those two. Is there any reason why those directories shouldn't or can't be created by the Makefile?
Sounds like a reasonable suggestion to me, but what do I know? I suspect it hasn't been done yet because:
