You can do a "make -k", which should build everything except serialctl. I saw some issues with seriactl on Mandrake, couldn't investigate until now.

Hi,
Can anyone recommend any good, free 3d modelling tools (ideally with lightwave model output) for creating models to use in GEM?
Thanks, Daniel

I have good experiences with Wings3D http://www.wings3d.org/ really smal+beautiful

Thanks for this. Wings 3D does look nice, altho I'm having trouble getting it to import any of the models that I have ( OBJ, 3DS,...).
Blender is pretty amazing too, but seems to lack OBJ support.
I haven't had much luck with 3d file format converters either.
It seems like this may be a common question/problem, so I'll report back if/when I have some success.

I think the OBJ import/export was a part of some python script by Jan Walter (unless I'm wrong), the same guy who implemented python in blender, in fact. check out http://www.q-bus.de/Blender/download.html for some scripts.

HI,
Good to see action in gemland :)
was wondering if anybody, managed to compile any of the gem versions to run on pd(os x) ? If yes could you point me in the right direction, please... Any info on other image (generation/manipulation/analasis/etc) pd externals that would run on pd os x, also welcome.
so far i've found sonogram.
How feasable/hard would it be to incorporate gstreamer.net elements in pd ?
Thanks

uh, hello "i"...
...to my knowledge, there is no existing GEM that will compile on OS X. However, I've been working for the last coupla weeks on a version, and it is coming along very nicely: windows are working with openGL contexts, patches open, and most "basic" examples are working...as time allows, I'm adding image, movie, video, and model loading support...oh, and particle support, too, but that also requires the GLM library to also be ported...
...so I guess you can look forward to something in the near future, but exactly when depends alot on how much "real-life" intrudes!

hi
sadly blender3d is dead, but you can find last copies atleast here... http://www.pablosbrain.com/blender3d/ online-quick-manual... http://www.the-labs.com/Blender/manual_1.5/index.html
can't remember if blender exported to lightwave.obj.... blender3d is free, powerfull and runs on linux/beos/win... but i newer really used it because i didn't had the "time" to learn the GUI... (and i had better 3d tools, but i havent seen a better free one!)
cheers -andre
