does anybody know if there is something like a realtime motion or color tracking software (like bigeye) for pc which gives out midi signals?
i would be really happy if some genius programmer could compile such an object for gem.

Michael Droetboom's SOLVE-External does have motion- and colour-tracking algorithms implemented. it will give you the coordinates of the center of gravity (motion, colour-blob) as x/y-coordinates between 0..1.
SOLVE is linux-only and quite unstable (at least, with my capture-card)
as soon as i have time, i will implement the algorithms for GEM (which will not take a genius programmer)
do you need it very soon ? i planned to do it in the next few weeks....

Check out EyesWeb from some Italian group:
http://musart.dist.unige.it/sito_inglese/research/r_current/eyesweb.html
Windows only, no plans for porting, open source, motion tracking from live video feeds to audio / midi / etc..
looks very cool
I would be interested to know what it is like, as i am not very windows-y at all, and would only make the jump if i knew it is as good as it looks....
call me weak and gutless

unfortunately i had no time to look at the bigeye-homepage.... but
nevertheless i have incorporated a pix_blob object in the (alpha)-release of gemplus-0.3. (+ some other objects...)
have a look at http://umlaeute.mur.at/gem/ and enjoy
