@Jack
nice suggestion, but it's not what i'm looking for.
partly, because i have documentation already nicely formatted.
and also because i'm still in the 'ugly' situation making patches in Vanilla, which are also running in Pd-extended, where the new text object is not available.
thanks anyway, rolf
Hello Rolf,
See attached patch. Does it help ? ++

hi,
in the helpbrowser it is possible to open files, like introduction.txt or index.htm, "outside" Pd.
is it possible to use this functionality inside a patch; like with a message to pd? (without using an external lib).
the documentation for (my) patches is sometimes too extensive to use the Pd comment.

in the past i used motex' [system] object to open html files. not vanilla of course. plus, unfortunately on windows it always opens the console window for a short time (then closes). but i can live with that. it's a fantastic addition to the powers of pd if you want to use ffmpeg, sox etc.
a vanilla "command line object" to send a message to the operating system would be really cool inside PD. with a big warning sign perhaps ;-)
