I'm running windows xp with a MOTU 828. In PD, I can only use the first (2) inputs and the first (2) outputs. Any ideas on how I can change the settings to gain access to all the inputs/outputs?...I have the standard (MMIO) audio set to MOTU Analog with 8 channels on input and output...
Any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks...

Hello pzuspann, If your audio hardware is configured correctly in Pd Audio Settings (check that the correct number of IOs are also set next to the choice of audio hardware), you can use [dac~ #] objects to access the relevant ports. E.g., [dac~ 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8] will make a dac object with 8 inlets, and [adc~ 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8] will give 8 outlets. You can also do things like [dac~ 2 5 8] if that is what you desire.

hi pzuspann
when using MMIO, every pair of channels of the motu interface appears as a separate device (1+2, 3+4, etc). so, if you want to use more than 2 channels, you need to toggle 'use multiple devices' and then you should be able to assign a pair of channels to each 'slot'.
if the other devices do not appear in the audio-settings select dialog, i would check with another software, if you can use more than two channels, so to have an idea, if the driver is installed correctly.
another approach would be to use the ASIO driver. with ASIO you have only one device for all channels, but you need to specifify in pd's audio dialog, how many of them you want to use.
i once successfully used pd with the same interface (motu 828), so it should work on your system as well. the only issue i had was, that the even channels were swapped with their respective odd channels for some reason, so the [dac~ 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8] sent its signals to 2, 1, 4, 3, 6, 5, 8 ,7.
i hope, i could help.
