hello Iohannes,
I am using the Pure Data in Fedora Linux (PlanetCCRMA RPMs). I can't find the console (but it appears in the windows version); I cann't see any messages exhibited using the print message in linux, but i can see them in Windows. Does anybody know how can I see the console with this version of Pd (PlanetCCRMA in Fedora Core 2) ?
and, yes, the problem must be the dimensions... if the video is 512x524, the mask must be 512x512, too? So, that is the problem, thank you for helping.

hello Iohannes,
I am sending the patch. The masking works only with images (JPG, TIFF)
thanks; haven't had time to look at it yet...
with dimensions power of 2. I tried the movies that came with Pd, and none worked (I think their dimensiona=s are power of 2).
what does "not work" mean for you ? _always_ look what the console is saying: useful info/warning/error messages will appear there ;-)
you can only mix (and masking is a form of mixing) to images with equal(!!!) dimensions.

I guess you start pd from some menu or icon, you basically have 2 options:
open a terminal emulator (like xterm) start pd from the command line there
find where the pd command is associated with the icon/menuitem and edit it to resemble something like:
xterm -T pd_console -e pd
HTH
x
instaid of just starting pd itself, make a launcher for it and select 'open in terminal'
