hola,
a little update of the GISS streaming patch that includes the configuration of cameras for OSX ( gracias a Alejo Duque ).
The recent pd-extended for OSX : http://autobuild.puredata.info/auto-build/latest/ includes a PiDiP that works ( reading video files and streaming ), that's the big news.
enjoy! sevy
hola,
as it is still too hot to go to the beach, i did another streaming patch for audio.
its dependencies are pdogg and playlist.
have fun, sevy
ps : to make it work smoothly on my not so powerful machine, i had to increase the audiobuf to 5000.

good question
we should thank the two big sponsors of the infrastructure supoorting us:
and side projects like Horitzo TV ( http://www.horitzo.tv/ ) where hangar was providiong the technical support ( and more ).
and Gisle Froysland, supporting the experiment since the beginning ( http://www.bek.no )

I should mention that it is the university where I work that provides
the server, my time to setup the server, and the bandwidth. http://
idmi.poly.edu It's an engineering school in the US, so that means it
inevitably gets money from the defense dept. So I like to think I am
tapping into the US war machine to try to salvage something good from
it. Please use it!
Yves, maybe you could check those streaming patches into CVS. Maybe
something like externals/pidip/examples, then they would be placed in
the Help Browser in "examples -> pidip".

well, if all uiversities are in away financed by the army, that cuts down many free software projects then ..

yeh, maybe, but i have a new way to access patches and ressources : http://stream.r23.cc/etc/puredata.html
( all the information in there for now is about me & collaborators, but of course it can be extended through the web : http://stream.r23.cc/etc/dbfill/db-create-node.pl?mapname=puredata )

hola,
what about ieee object for linux??
thanx a lot cheers Habib
well, i cannot develop suchan object for linux for i don't use any dv, but my friend Luka "Husk" ( www.estereotips.net ) adapted the GISS to use a temporary :
passing through Gem and converting to PDP using gem2pdp. here it is attached.
of course this solution is not optimal and it has lots of dependencies : Gem, gem2pdp, PDP/PiDiP, playlist...
but i think all is included in pd-extended now ( and working )
of course, it's very heavy and i hope temporary solution, if someone could develop a pdp_ieee1394, that would be cool,
saludos, sevy
Hey Yves!!
very nice!!
but.... do u know why theonice~ doesn't work on linux debian??? what about ieee object for linux??

hola,
now released the version v11 of the sahabuntu live cd, a cd made for streaming with the following streaming programs :
tss is a frontend to streaming with ffmpeg2teora / oggfwd using scripting and enabling two simultaneous streams. usually high and low quality
for video and audio ( ogg )
as we wanted only very simple tools, we did not include freej or gstreamer.
just get it here : http://gollum.artefacte.org/sahabuntu-7.04.11-i386.iso and open the Examples folder on the desktop.
note : sahabuntu ( sa'ha in arabic means cheers! ) was first compiled and used in Haifa ( occupied palestine ) by Lluis Gomez and Bigorda and me.
enjoy! sevy
sound wonderful downloading now

freej is the most simple tool for setting up a stream, actually is fun to play with text layers on top of it (video)..the only problem with, the latest version allowing fps selection refuses to compile under my systems...(slackware and gentoo)..but thats a topic for another list.. i just wanted to say that freej is also simple, phps not as TTS that seems to me like the step forward from theorur.
will have to try,
