This is a common problem for everyone, I think. I use a Voodoo2, which allows me to do a direct TV signal out while still using my main video card for the Pd window on the monitor. However, the Voodoo2 is _really_ showing its age these days.
The system which I am hoping to try soon is the nVidia Quadro2 MXR chipset. Elsa has the Synergy III, which has dual monitor outputs, both with hardware acceleration. Have to see.
Later, Mark

Has anyone found a way to get performable output from Gem under Linux?
Since most video-output solutions for Linux send the whole screen, the challenge is getting Gem to inhabit the whole screen (while possibly allowing you to keep using pd)...
Perhaps, if Gem could open up a window (fullscreen) on another display - which was on another computer, or perhaps another monitor on the same computer?
Just wonding if anyone else has approached this problem.
