Then you could use [spigot] or some other gate-like structure

can open only when the "tempurature" gets higher (or lower).
The opposite of this would be MaxLibs's [speedlim], which essentially
low-pass filters the input events, but cannot be "reversed"
to only get
the fast events AFAIK.
