Hi, I use 0.43.4, which is installed on twoUbuntu12.04,from repositories, and I've just noticed some basic objects like [expr] and [cnv] 'couldn't create' on onesystem, but not on the other...?!?
Either delete your preferences file, or go to the Preferences and click the new "Reset to Defaults" button.

what is "0.43.4"? Pd or Pd-extended? both have ubuntu packages. if it is Pd(vanilla), you will have to install "puredata-extra", to get [expr].
