i'll try NT and let you know (i'm gonna try the same on a PIII-500 with Win98first ed). Problems of speed affects the system (eg. scrolling a page in web browser) until the Pd dos shell (i mean the dos window) is open. Closing Pd there's a clear acceleration only after closing this shell.

I've heard that Celerons are weak in floating point performance; I've never tried one myself. Pd's audio computations are all done in floating point so on the whole Pd won't run fast on Celerons. However, I don't know any reason why the graphical side of things should be so bad. Perhaps this is a W98 thing which will go away with NT?

Hi everybody!
i'm still moving first steps in pd (yet reading manuals!!). By now it runs on a celly433, 128MB ram and win98 first ed. (but i'm installing WinNT) i notice that the system running PD is very slow in refreshing windows, at least slower
than
running other r/t audio softwares. Is it due to the architecture of pd (eg. audio computations made higher in hierarchy than graphical ones, or similar)?
