It sounds like TotalMix is sending something that is not OSC when it shuts down. Can you provide the output of udpreceive when that happens? Maybe put a [print] after [udpreceive].

now suddenly it seems to crash when starting totalMix instead of quitting it. I've started pd with -stderr and it spills out:

"#bundle", timetag=0, size of first element = 12 "/" ,f 0
So it's opening a bundle with an element whose path is just "/" and a float equal to zero.
It could be that totalMix opens the bundle and only closes it at the end, which would probably make Pd crash since it expects to get the entire bundle before processing it.

Actually that's not true. The bundle is complete in that message. I tried passing those numbers as a message [35 98 117 110 100 108 101 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 12 47 0 0 0 44 102 0 0 0 0 0 0( through [unpackOSC] here and it doesn't complain. So something else is wrong.

if i can do something to find out what's going on, then let me know asap. i will have no more access to a os x machine from tomorrow on. m.

Can you run wireshark to get the content of a packet that causes a crash?

If it's [routeOSC] that crashes then it might have something to do with the path(s) its looking for. Does it still crash if you disconnect the input to [routeOSC]? Or if you use [route] instead?

Today, I've installed Ubuntu Studio 12.04.3 (with lowlatency kernel). It seemed that it was a good distro for my use... but switching pages DOES make Pd-Extended to crash. I reported-suggested this in this thread: http://hexler.net/forum/viewthread/992/, where I wrote some other info, maybe usefull.
The config where it doesn't crash:
/Ubuntu 12.04, Kernel 3.2.0-49-generic, Pd-Extended 0.43.4 (download from PPA as the Pure Data page says), jackdmp 1.9.8...// / The other config:
/Ubuntu Studio 12.04.3, Kernel 3.2.0-51-lowlatency, same Pd-Extended version, Jack that came with UbuntuStudio (don't know wich version)/
Any other information that could be useful to fix this? Like I wrote in the thread, I suggested TouchOSC that it should send non-empty lists. But, TouchOSC is closed-code... so, there's no easy feedback.

That doesn't happen here. There is no such message in the source code. Maybe you have an older version of routeOSC? The OSC specification allows empty messages, and [routeOSC] should output a bang if it routes such a message. Older versions of [routeOSC](before March 2012) didn't work properly, so you probably just need to find a more recent one or build it from svn. (http://sourceforge.net/p/pure-data/svn/HEAD/tree/trunk/externals/mrpeach/osc...)
