I put together a Pd-extended.app release candidate. I finally figured
out the Tcl/Tk 8.4.9 build problems, so its a proper build from
scratch. Tcl/Tk 8.4.9 brings lots of lovely improvements, including
Jamie's CoreGraphics updates. Also, in this build, I included a lot of
stuff from the "abstractions" section of the CVS, including RRADical,
some tutorials, etc. etc.
http://at.or.at/hans/pd/installers.html
Things seem to be working fine. Try things out and post to the list
when things are broken. If I don't hear of any problems, I'll make
this the release and stick it on the SourceForge page.
Also, thanks for the donations, it definitely spurred me on (I don't
know if I should mention names...).

I take it I need Jack installed for this to work?
When I start up 0.38-4-extended.RC0.app, I get this error message in my
console immediately, and the app itself just "beachballs" forever; it
responds nicely to a force quit however.

Strange, it used to be optional and work just fine. I wonder where
this path is coming from:

config/os/macosx/build/Jack.framework/Versions/A/Jack".
Have you tried starting with "-portaudio" in your .pdrc? What is in
your .pdrc?

forgive the newbie question but what is .pdrc? a search for it in the
finder does not find anything.
I installed Jack OS X last night and then this build of PD worked. The
previous versions from your website and a few other variants have also
worked for me in the past without jack.

Its the old preferences file. If you are not using it, no need to
learn it. If you want to know more, check the FAQ:

Which version? Did you try the extended-RC0 version? That one
requires Jack to be installed, unfortunately. I'll release one with
out the Jack requirement in about a week, after I am done with the NIME
conference.
