Howdy,
I've just started fiddling around with the versions of Pd past the point where the outline was added where you can see the GoP space of a patch.
I recently resaved an old abstraction with Ben Bogart's [popup] in it and now the popup doesn't show up in the GoP.
Any ideas?
Running .40-0t04 on an Intel Mac. mactel.

Hey David,
Ah the joys of using a "private" interface. Hopefully DD will change all that...
I've only just changed to 0.39, so its a ways before I get to 0.40...
Did it compile fine?
Thanks for the report.
I'll have to take a look... probably will not be anytime too soon... may not until 0.40 is stable...
If you need it I suggest going back to 0.39...

I think it did compile fine, if I remember correctly...
As for going back to older versions, what with this mactel I think I'm just going to ride the bleeding edge and not fiddle with my old patches like that unless I can help it...

Indeed, DD has a completely different version of g_canvas.h. I plan to make it really public, but it'll take a while before I begin guaranteeing backwards compatibility.
Anyhow, I'm interested in making [popup] an internal class of DD, and likewise for a few other common GUI objects. Making it that way makes it easier for me to update the code according to future API changes. (there aren't many lines of code in DD that are the same as they were a year ago)

At least [popup] works in one pd version, with my windows box this external has never worked.

I'm sorry but I don't have windows and have no way to test it.
Not to mention I have no idea how I can tell you to help be debug it...
I guess I'm Yves like in that way..
I thought I heard of people using it on windows, but maybe I imagined it.

it definitely worked on windows. but i wrote another one since i wasnt keen on the usability. of course my toxy extensions barely work anywhere either, let alone windows..
Okay, in fact it's the popup help file that gives arguments that makes popup invisible, also the ancient dll version made popup disappearing when a patch window was reduced, now it works all fine with the dll David attached in his last message.
Well I've just found out why popup is disappearing, it only takes one size argument (width).
Works fine with pd-40-test3 too.

What?!?!?
Only one argument? how old is this DLL and where did you get it?
Of course one should always compile from CVS before saying something does not work.
I'm sorry your OS does not allow you to compile, nor even checkout from CVS, easily.
I'm happy your problem was resolved!
David McCallum, does this help with your problems? Maybe its an intel issue???
